DuiCam is a simple video recorder app for mobiles phones that:

- Keeps only the last 3 clips of a given length (e.g., 10 minutes) to avoid filling up disk space.
- Has a simple interface for viewing screenshots, panning/zooming, saving, and sharing.

Our goal is to empower people who report drunk drivers ("Dui" -- Driving under the influence, of alcohol or other substances). A user may place the phone in a dashboard mount and press record to capture activity happening in front of the car. Upon witnessing a vehicle possibly with a drunk driver, the user can stop recording, scroll back to a scene showing the vehicle, pan/zoom to get a good view of the vehicle make/model and hopefully license plate, save the screenshot or video, and share them via email or MMS, and then call authorities to report.

The key feature distinguishing DuiCam from the normal video recorder is that DuiCam only saves the last X minutes, where X is configurable by the user, e.g., 30 minutes, reducing the chance of the app filling the phone's storage.

Starts right up. Easy to save still images. Also let's you save videos (otherwise only keeps three few minute recent vids). When emailing, lets you cut video to allowable size (uses same cut window as built-in iphone cam app). Integration with mapping would be nice, could help locate events (eg guy cut me off at main and 1st, help me find that vid). Worked ok on my iOS 4 but a couple issues, maybe not issues on later iOS versions so I didn't mark down.

Works fine, portrait

Does exactly what the description says. But, it's portrait-oriented, as in the screenshots. I would like the video controls and on-screen prompts to rotate when using it in landscape mode.

Super easy, useful as dash cam

Started right up, very intuitive. I use as dash cam in case I witness an accident (or am in one). Easy to zoom into snapshot. Easy to send clips or snapshots. Would love if speed was shown.
