Dungeon Raid is a puzzle RPG, a blend of puzzle game with roleplaying mechanics. Your mission is to trace a path through a set of matching tiles, but watch out – you may be attacked by enemies who improve as fast as you do.

As you go, the object is to collect as many resources as you can, like gold and experience. Get enough points and you can buy or upgrade equipment and level up. All the while, remember to avoid those nasty enemy skull tiles and fight them off for as long as you possibly can. And don't get too greedy, or you risk being overwhelmed!

The higher you go in a Dungeon Raid game, the more strategy you’re going to need to match a greater number of tiles, grab bonuses and stay ahead of those evil adversaries. Never forget that they improve as the game continues.

Keep your wits about you as you play Dungeon Raid. As you level up, there are many trade offs to consider and complimentary combinations of skills to be chosen. If you’re not used to the tense pace of the higher levels, go ahead and start on easy difficulty. That gives you the chance to play the game in a more relaxed way, and watch how powerful your avatar can become.

Regardless of your skill level, you’ll never get bored with Dungeon Raid because there’s so much going on! There are hundreds of items to collect, a growing list of character skills and many different strategies for you to use. You’ll be itching to play just one more turn, just one more game for hours and days on end.

★ 4 difficulty levels: select a relaxing easy game or go for a challenging and strategic experience
★ 400+ unique items to buy and upgrade
★ 30 diverse abilities to help you and hinder your enemies
★ 30 special monsters to defeat
★ 20 powerful upgrades to apply to your items
★ Level up and improve your avatar as you kill enemies and collect experience points
★ Global leaderboards using Game Center & OpenFeint
★ Play your own music during the game

Needs a campaign mode.

This is a very addictive game. My only complaint is how jarring it is when it ends. Like, it could go on forever, and then wham, a row of monsters comes out and you die.

The game could do a *much* better job alerting you when you're about to die. All you currently get is a heartbeat noise. Not very useful if you're playing in a noisy environment or if you're not low enough on health to trigger the noise but are about to suffer a huge enough damage spike to die.

I wish there were some sort of finite goal, like a campaign mode, to pursue. Endless non-zero-sum games get irritating and boring after a while.

I also wish there were a character sheet to view all your current stats, and a brief in-game wiki to look up what they mean.

Finally, an option to revert to the beginning of the previous turn, when you die, would be nice--to see if you can figure a way to weasel out of it and keep going!

Other than those suggestions, this is a very fun game. I will definitely be playing it some more.

great game

it may not have the classes and the full rpg elements of the full version, but it gets challenging at a nice level. the catch is that you have to get helpful abilities while balancing it with your armour/weapon damage upgrades. get the full version though, it has more of an overarching rpg. your games affect one another so when you finish a game and start over, your choices still matter.
RPGs/Match three are great.
i wish for a bit more of a plot (perhaps fter every level up or boss fight) but that would detract form the purpose and its simple elegence.

Addicting Puzzle Grind

Um, thank you!

I had low expectations when I downloaded this as prompted by another app and thought I'd quickly delete it. I almost didn't even try it.

It has the mindless, trance-inducing matching thing going for it, but also the "crap, gotta stay alive" and "Oooh, grinding to level!" aspects. Add in some catchy/hilarious sound effects*, a dose of stats-based strategy, and a high scores board and I'm hooked.

Oh, and it's turn based. No timers. I hate timers.

Other things I hate that this is devoid of: obnoxious prompts to upgrade or rate the game, and obnoxious ads. The upgrade is on my wish list and I'll keep an eye out for a bargain or pick it up next time I'm stuck at the airport, whichever happens first.

Thank you for this. Oh, and kudos to whoever made the opening screen art. Eye-catching and nifty.

(*I was playing while talking to the SO on the phone. That made my day. "Uh, Sweetie? What was that?")
