"Far and away the best language-learning app." —The Wall Street Journal

"Duolingo may hold the secret to the future of education."—TIME Magazine

PC Magazine Editors' Choice for Language Learning: "Among iPhone apps for learning or practicing a language, you can't beat Duolingo."

"The most productive means of procrastination I’ve ever discovered. The short lesson blocks are painless and peppy, and reaching the next level (and then the level after that) becomes addictive." —Slate

Duolingo is changing the way people learn languages.

Love it.

I see from the reviews and acknowledge where this app may have shortcomings technologically, but strategically I think this is as close to a subversive lesson that a device could offer. I've always heard that visiting a country is the best way or place to learn a language and this app comes close enough for me and I'm excited to see it improve nonetheless.
I also believe that no single app should be the entirety of a persons education, that is a simple over-dependency common to popular culture today. Using this app in combination with real life speaking situations amongst native speakers wherever they may be found, reading from textbooks, movies, t.v. shows, children's and educational programming and media, and also simple pointers from friends are all the best way to learn because they all reinforce each other. I would love to see possibly a secondary app with another approach to compliment the Duolingo. 😉

To get the best out of this app, (at least for me) capitalize on as many other learning opportunities as possible and dissatisfaction is almost impossible. Great resource!

The best second language app.

This is the only second language app that you need. While it cannot give you the experience and culture that actually living among people of a different tongue can, it is extremely comprehensive and very extensive for a free app. This is like a language class for free. It's very nice to be able to "test out" of certain skills should you excel in some areas more than others. The app has a very good breakdown of words and phrases that relate to each other and users have the ability to review any section they please, or choose to work on their weak areas. While the app cannot give you a firsthand cultural language experience it is the best possible app for learning a second language out there. I rate this app with 5/5 stars because I've yet to see any other language app come close.

Learning a language, duolingo

I usually only write reviews for horrible apps. Not this time. I really wanted to learn Spanish. I decided to try this app. Best decision I made this year. I've been using this for just a few weeks and I know lots of Spanish. You can also learn other languages like French, German, and lots more. Duolingo teaches in many ways. Speaking, listening, translating, and more. It keeps track of how many days you used the app and how much xp you earned. Everything is broken down in many lessons. Food, animals, numbers, adjectives, Verbs, and lots lots lots more. My only concern, there should be more items in the shop. Like more rewards that motivate people. Also somtimes I use duolingo a day, then it says I didn't and restarts my streak. Please fix it in the next update.

I recomend duolingo over anything.
