What's New

Version 1.19

Important Announcement: We are placing Dyrii in a maintenance mode and pausing new feature development. As a Dyrii user, this means:
- You will be able to continue using the app with no loss of existing functionality. Since Dyrii uses iCloud for storage and sync, there will be no impact on your data or its availability. All existing features will continue to function as advertised.
- We are discontinuing the current subscription model and the app will now be available in the App Store under a new one-time pricing model.
- If you are an existing premium subscriber, your subscription will automatically terminate at the end of its current term, following which you will have full access to the app without any additional charges.
- We will continue to support the app and will roll out updates as necessary to fix bugs and defects. However, we are unable to add any new features at this time.

Here are some of the key enhancements we have included in the current release:

Hands down the best journal app

Prettyby7

I used Day One before it added encryption back in 2014; I had been devoted to MacJournal since and had to look for an alternative because MacJournal for iPad does not seem to work well syncing across platforms. I also tried Journey before Dyrii but ran into immediate road blocks because it only supports import from Day One. I was able to import into Dyrii flawlessly with years of journaling intact. In addition, I am able to use Dyrii on iPad, iPhone and Mac effortlessly! I am simply in love with Dyrii since it works syncing across platforms, easy portability from other journaling apps, geolocation, tagging, and Audio notes – all features that make this a powerful journaling app. I post way more with Dyrii! Thanks for creating such an awesome and superior product, I couldn’t wait to buy the Premium version!

Most Underrated App Ever

Skits164

I really like this app. If I wasn’t looking for an app that I could use on my Mac and my phone, I would of missed it due to the plethora of apps on the iPhone and the fact that there aren’t that many reviews for this one.

This app is password protected, it has unlimited entries, sketching, add afterthoughts on entries, audio, pictures, mood tracker and it is all for free. No tricks or gimmicks. Automatic sync costs a subscription but if you chose to upload both on the iCloud it will sync for free also.

The UI Is simple, easy to navigate and start using. You just click on the + and you can enter a new entry and you can do multiple entries a day. If you want to click into a previous one, it shows the preview. It’s not cluttered, buggy, and it hasn’t crashed on me once. Every time I open the app after going out of it, it opens with a password. Which is perfect. I’m just really happy I came across it and gave it a chance. It is by far better than DayOne or anything else I’ve tried.

I wish it had an option to create different journals besides the one on the timeline. I would definitely pay the annual subscription if there was an option to create new journals and write entries in there.

Too much friction - not for me

Bill.who

Like so many others, I’ve been looking for a Day One Classic replacement.
There are a lot of things that I would like to see in such an app, but the first thing I want in a journal is the ability to easily write (or otherwise create) an entry. Dyrii doesn’t do that.
Compare creating an entry on Classic to creating an entry with Dyrii.
Day One classic.
Open the app.
Press +
Write entry (your first line is your title, which can be changed)

Dyrii
Open the app
Press +
Select from a screenful of icons representing, I think, a mixed bunch of entry methods and tags
Start writing (note that there is a separate title field)

Of you want to add a photo to a written entry, Classic: tap on the camera symbol at the bottom of the entry. Dyrii: ?, tho’ you can insert from the menu on the desktop version.

The extra steps are not terrible, but they create enough friction that I’m less likely to use it regularly. For people who sit down once a day to write, the features that this app offers might be compelling, but for me those features are meaningless because I won’t have enough entries to make them worthwhile.

A less important, but equally personal criticism: I really dislike the icon. The color seems muddy and the design is busy.

Sadly, deleting.
