As many others have mentioned in their comments, I don't usually write reviews. This update is so awful however that I felt compelled to do so. Maybe with enough bad reviews eBay will realize what a horrible mistake they have made and give us back the app that really was wonderful and worked. I have my iPad set to download updates automatically, that function is now being turned off. Look what it got me! I am on eBay everyday, sometimes multiple times a day. I had saved searches for items that can yield hundreds if not thousands of results and I was able to view the newly added items. Not now! Am I now going to go through hundreds of items to look at things I've already seen to hunt out new ones? Nope! Now I probably won't bother and won't buy. That may make my husband happy but probably won't be popular with sellers. I've been buying, A Lot! The features that were great about this app are gone. You can't find anything, can't tell if you've viewed something, can't tell easily if you're already watching an item. To be completely frank, this update is the worst case of change for the sake of change only I've ever seen. NOTHING about this "update" updates the app. It takes it back by several levels. Come on eBay, just say NO to updating that really has no purpose for your users! If I could give no stars or negative, I would. You get one because it's the only way to write a review and express how horrible this truly is as an update!
Some updates are just plain wrong, 3.4 is just that
I am not one to write reviews at all, but this time I just had to.
This is a very user-unfriendly 'update'. I have to wonder if the 'updaters' were regular ebay users at all. I wish I had refused the 'upgrade' or could reverse it and stay with the previous version. Some previous features are now simply gone, WHY? or maybe they are so hidden now, I'll never find them again in this maze. For example: WHERE is the 'Night Mode' setting I so enjoyed? Does it exist anymore? WHY would it be removed? Now the screen is only bright white and UGLY in my opinion, without an alternative option and full of shopping suggestions I have NO interest in.
3.4 is confusing and cumbersome to use, as opposed to the previous smooth and easier to use version. After checking 3.4 out, I was compelled to write this gut reaction, it is my first review.
UPDATE: After a few more days of use, I now see that there is no longer any 'feedback status' summarized under Purchased Items. It is now not easy, as it WAS before, to see. Now we are asked to go into each purchase separately to see if feedback has been left by the other party or is yet needed to be added in return.
In a sentence: THIS new update to the ebay iPad app needs further adjustments badly to be acceptable... as I see most other users have also determined. Sometimes it might just be better to NOT update a fully functional app once a certain level is achieved.
New version is awful!
This new update has me almost in tears! It is unbelievably awkward and such a slap in the face for those who do not wish to be pandered to with the "In Thing." eBay's app is now one big endcap filled with crap that I don't want, burying and obscuring the things that I'm actually looking to purchase. This was exactly why I used eBay's app several times a day for years; I could find what I was looking for, buy it and move on with my day. Needless to say, I received quite a shock tonight when I opened my app as I do every night before bed. Spured on by this travesty, I spent a few hours reading online comments and complaints, wishes and requests, as well as compliments of previous app versions... The funny thing is, I couldn't find anyone requesting and pleading for a "Today" or "Fashion" tab or any of the new, so called, "features" of the new app. Sadly that goes to show that most of our pleading and begging to revert to the previous version of the app we all loved (more or less :) ) will go unheeded. Give us what we want, not what you think we want. I know eBay is trying to increase our enjoyment and experience with new app releases and updates but sometimes too much is just too much. Ever wonder why there are tons of apps that make Windows 8 look like Windows XP?!? There are very few companies that can produce a product that we all want before we know we want it... eBay, you did not produce an app we wanted. Leave that forward thinking to Apple!
