App & Website Have Downsides
I have recently sold about $1K worth of items in only one weekend right from my phone. The app didn't make me any money, but selling via the app has been nothing but smooth. Honestly, I have had a MUCH easier time making ads, posting pictures, posting shipping & tracking info to customers, and leaving feedback. The website is what's been giving me the most trouble! Revising ads has become almost impossible since certain parts of the page doesn't load and then prevents you from updating any info or pictures saying "you need to provide proper ____ to continue" so I don't even bother using the website anymore. The app is so much easier compared to the website! There are negatives on both sides. If you're following something like a search, or a few bids... you're basically following it forever, even if you turn off notifications. If you bid on anything - even if you were outbid - you'll receive notifications until the day that listing ends. *I would just bookmark your favorite listings in your browser instead to avoid all those popups!* Like another reviewer said, popups appear on the browser and app and you have to remove them from both venues to make them "checked" or "read" notifications. Kinda annoying but other than that, no huge issues here... and I am still using the iPhone 4 and can't even upgrade to iOS 8!
So many things to list!!! First off, you cannot request an invoice from sellers!! You cannot pay sellers individually!! You cannot delete "offers" that have expired!! Leaving feedback is a joke!! One at a time, even if you've purchased several items from one seller!! There is no link to report listings!! And why do you show the items I am watching on the home page??? I'm watching them for Pete sakes!! I can see them in that window!! Also, the bottom links are so close to the buttons on each screen that I'm constantly being taken to my shopping cart when I'm trying to place a bid!! Removing multiple items from the shopping cart is a joke!! One by one by one... And each time the screen has to completely reload!! Talk about a waste of precious time!! In "my eBay screen" you can search for items but then it won't allow you to delete or edit those items... You have to be on the main "my eBay screen" to do that... So what's the use?!? Bottom line, I created an icon on my desk top for "classic eBay" and use that 9 times out of 10 because it is so much for time effective!! COME ON EBAY, you are and have always been a strictly online company... You should have the resources and the ability to have THE BEST app around; and yet you don't!!! Huge disappointment!!!!
Good app for sellers but fix the pictures.
Overall I'm happy with the app. There were some bugs fixed in the last update such as a problem with the pictures that would cause the app to crash. The one major problem I have with it is the ads. As a seller I pay eBay plenty of money each month, usually close to $3,000. It is very frustrating to try to go to my messages only to realize the app hasn't fully loaded and I end up clicking on an ad that takes me to a webpage trying to sell me car insurance. You would think paying customers would be allowed to use app without being bombarded by advertising. I realize the ads are there as a way for eBay to make more money but I also think that sellers who are already paying eBay money each month should have access to an app that isn't constantly pushing an ad in their face.
