“Ecoute Is The Best Music Player For iOS. Period.” - MacStories.
Ecoute for iOS is an alternative player using your existing musical library. It sports a clean and elegant interface, revolves around gestures to help you control your music quickly, and integrates Twitter, Facebook, and Last.fm so you can share your favorites tracks.
It enhances your control over the music by adding more options like 'shuffle by albums', 'play next' and 'add up next'.
Moreover, Ecoute offers the ability to manage the now playing queue. Add songs on the go and reorganize your tracks with ease!
The user interface automatically switches into night mode as the brightness of the screen decreases. You can also force the night mode if the default UI doesn't fit you.
Ecoute supports AirPlay and iTunes Match. Metadata like Play counts, and last played dates are synchronised.
Available filters are Artists, Albums, Composers, Genres, Playlists, Compilations, Songs, and Audiobooks.

It's Fun to Play Music Again in IOS
As soon as I opened this app I smiled and recalled how it used to be fun to play music in IOS. The latest Apple Music App had me resenting ever buying into their ecosystem years ago with the horribly cluttered interface and Apple Music ad that popped when trying to access my music (how dare you Apple!). Anyway, this isn't the place to rant further about Apple Music...though it's hard to resist. I was actually thinking about jumping ship to an alternate streaming service just to duplicate my purchased library. Then I woke up and realized, it's the rotten player, dummy! Thanks for making this app! A couple things to make it the ultimate player would be landscape mode and cross fading. Thanks again!
Excellent replacement for Apple’s Music
If you simply want to play your owned music and aren’t interested in renting music from Apple, Ecoute is a great choice. It’s interface doesn’t try to be a work of art (you rarely ever look at it anyway); it simply looks nice but remains simple and easy to use.
I like Ecoute so much, I may actually upgrade iOS now, which I haven’t done since Apple made it’s Music app a hot mess when they introduced the streaming service.
My major gripe is that when you flip up in the app switcher to close the app, the music keeps playing. That’s annoying. Every other music app I’ve used stops the music when closing the app, which is the expected behavior. Docked stars for this one.
Lesser gripes: it’s not always intuitive how to get back to the cover art view. “Filter” is a weird terminology for navigating the music library. That took some getting familiar with. “Browse" would be better, IMHO.
Please fix the lyrics feature!
Developers please fix the lyrics feature. I added lyrics to all my songs via iTunes and they would show up in Ecoute for about a day before not showing anything at all. This was also before the current update. Now it shows me lyrics from the internet (which are way off). I want the lyrics Is synced with my songs via iTunes to be shown. PLEASE FIX THIS BUG. Also... when I click on an album/artwork... It is cut off? It never shows fully on my screen. What's up with that?
