Ratings and Reviews
A terrific interactive whiteboard and screencasting app, Explain Everything is perfect for making instructional videos that clearly demonstrate concepts. Annotate, manipulate, and add narration to documents, photos, and videos, creating visual presentations you can easily share. Instructors can use this powerful app to explain everything from math equations to football plays, or they can task students with producing their own projects to show to the class.
Good but buggy
I have used this product extensively for several years now, and generally enjoy the capabilities. That said, I am getting a little tired of having to find work-arounds for the bugs - in particular (of late) the auto-renaming scheme that constantly ends up giving me “cannot open ... the document is in a bad state” (or whatever the specific message is). Just give a warning and a “save as” option and QUIT MESSING UP MY DOCUMENTS! You guys are getting as bad as Microsoft with giving new poorly-tested “features!” By the way, I have hundreds of designed presentations that I use for teaching, and when I (reluctantly) upgraded to the rebranded version, it screwed up just about EVERY ONE of them to some extent! Please keep up the good development work, but TEST AND FIX the bugs BEFORE releasing (and yes - I worked in software development for 20 years before switching to a teaching career, so I know what a development cycle looks like - and it does NOT mean you get to break work done with previous releases)!

OK Now I am just confused
What the heck is going on here? I paid for this app in August and have been using it in my university class all semester. Yes I went to the website link in the update notification, and no, I don’t understand what is going on. Do I need to pay more money now to use the app? Do I need to subscribe to a service? Since you are obsoleting and no longer supporting it, then I suppose this legacy version will disappear for good after some iOS update that breaks it. Then what do I do? I feel pretty cheated for spending so much time learning how to use it, only to have it ultimately disappear - all my sessions from this semester (2 different lecture classes, 2x per week, 15 weeks in the semester) will ultimately no longer play once the app is discontinued for good? Then I suppose that you will make me subscribe to some service? This kind of thing is exactly why I hate investing time and money in iOS apps. Ugh.
