saves time and money
I have used emeals for over a year, and save a ton of time and money with this meal planning. l service. I just started using the app and I don't know why I waited so long.
Over the past year, I have tried the crock pot, simple gourmet, classic, 30 minute, and portion-control plans.
I love that you can add recipes to your plan/grocery list for the week (keep what you like from the plan you are on or add recipes from a different plan). I used to print the grocery list out or try to look at it on my phone in the store, which was really annoying/hard if I didn't want to make all the meals on my plan for the week. (Plus trying to zoom in and out to see the list on my phone because I rarely print anything). There's also a cool "cooking" mode that enlarges the text so you can look at the directions step-by-step.
We have been using the portion control plan (for 6), which we typically make in full and have 2 sets of leftovers. I like the recipes on this plan the best (health-wise and taste-wise). I lost 20 pounds of baby weight with the help of the meal plan (we had been eating out a lot before), not to mention the money we save eating at home. This is a time-saver and money-saver for me. Highly recommend!!
Dinner made Easy
I am into this going on almost a week and so far so good. We started midweek of the weekly menu which worked out because, being a picky eater, I saw the first meal and saw it wasn't for me. The previous week's menu is listed with the current week so I just swapped one from the previous week with the current week. I have to say that I am loving the app. I just go to the cart and get what I need for the week. It lists what each item is for so if you don't do all the meals, you can get just what you need for the ones you do. The staples may drive your cost up initially if you weren't a cooker to begin with because you don't have them in your cupboard or what you have is outdated, but you will be using those staples regularly so they won't be going to waste.
I rarely review an app but...
I am in the test phase of this membership so I've only seen two menus and made two recipes but I must comment.
The recipe total times are about right but add 5-10 mins to be sure. Hitting their times depends on your staging the prep as they did but they don't tell you how they staged it.
The recipes are delicious and simple to follow.
Clean-up is pretty minimal.
I bought fewer groceries this week.
If you're vegetarian you'll recognize that these people have engaged someone to create their recipes who understands vegetarianism. The recipes are creative, not starch dependent, include protein sources. Very informed compared to similar services.
The recipes also appear to be very calorie conscious and healthy. While I didn't choose that. I'll gladly take delicious AND healthy any day.
My biggest gripe is that I signed up for the 1-2 portion option and have made two recipes. My fridge is STUFFED with food. I don't think of myself as a small portion eater but I could easily serve 4 people, with the recipes and maybe have left-overs.
All in all at ~$4/ week.... I saved that on groceries alone and more if including decreased take-out that results from having a plan...and it's definitely worth the peace of mind of not having to think about dinner. Sweet!!
