*From the team at ORIGINATOR - the creators of the beloved Endless Alphabet and Sesame Street's Monster at the End of This Book and Another Monster.... Originator is a team of passionate artists and engineers dedicated to the best education+entertainment apps for kids.*
As a follow-up to Endless Alphabet, set the stage for early reading success with Endless Reader! This app introduces "sight words", the most commonly used words in school, library, and children's books. Kids need to recognize these words by sight in order to achieve reading fluency. Recognizing sight words is advantageous for beginning readers because many of these words have unusual spelling, cannot be sounded out using phonics knowledge, and often cannot be represented using pictures.
Kids will have a blast learning sight words and their context and usage with the adorable Endless monsters. Each word features an interactive word puzzle with letters that come alive, and then a sentence puzzle with words that become what they describe. See the word "dog" as a barking dog, and the word "up" reach for the sky!
** NOTE: You must be online and have sufficient disk space while running the app to get all words in the app. **
- 6 words free to try with additional word packs available for purchase. Even more Reader Packs will be available for purchase in the future.
- Delightful animations reinforce sight recognition of words in a fun and interactive way.
- Word puzzles reinforce spelling using lower-case letters and the sentence puzzles teach definition and usage (in addition to sight recognition).
- Endless Reader was designed with your children in mind. There are no high scores, failures, limits or stress. Your children can interact with the app at their own pace.
What's New in Version 1.2
This update fixes an issue that prevents purchased word packs from being displayed to the user if Restrictions for In-App Purchases is enabled.
My three year old daughter absolutely **loves** this app, and chooses it over non-educational apps! She will spend stretches of time on this, and can operate it completely on her own. There are no ads, no popups, no random screens that she has to ask me to read.
She can already identify the sight words in books we read, and she's only had this app for two weeks! I am so happy that there are new words to add, as she is burning through them quickly! The only thing I wish the developers would add is a highlight function when the sentences are read--highlighting each word as it is read would help her connect what she hears with what she sees, as some of the words in each sentence are additional to the sight words taught.
This is brilliant technology and brilliant design for getting pre-readers interested and engaged in learning. Hands down, this is **the best** educational and fun app out there!
ETA: I rarely, if ever, purchase apps or add-ons for any of my children, or myself, for that matter. But the new word packages are worth every penny of the $2.99. And I cannot imagine I would be uploading new words for her very often, as each package comes with about 25 new words.
The very best.
I chose Endless Reader after my daughter's tremendous success with Endless Alphabet. I feel this app surpasses Alphabet in the amazing techniques it utilizes to educate its users. I have been teaching my 4 year old Sight words since she was 3. We used flash cards, dry erase, all of our tangible options... I stumbled upon this app after purchasing an iPad for my daughter. I was blown away. My daughter confidently recognizes 3/4 of the words taught on this app. It's amazing. She used it for 20 minutes one afternoon and while we were out she recognized a few words within minutes of seeing them. I am a tough woman to impress when it comes to educational tools...this app is something unique. Buy the ad dons, it is so worth it.
Perfect Preschool Learning
My 28 month old loves Endless Reader almost as much as I do. It teaches phonics, letter recognition, vocabulary, and reading all in one cohesive, simple, and fun way. When the child drags the letters to spell the featured word, each letter animates and makes the phonetic sound. After the letter is placed correctly, the name of the letter is stated. When the word has been built, the child then places it and two other featured words into a sentence for reading and reinforcement. Afterwards, the child is rewarded with a fun animation based on the sentence. As an educator myself, I am very impressed with how well this app teaches reading basics in a fun way that even a two year old can use.
