*From the team at ORIGINATOR - the creators of the beloved Endless Alphabet and Sesame Street's Monster at the End of This Book and Another Monster.... Originator is a team of passionate artists and engineers dedicated to the best education+entertainment apps for kids.*

As a follow-up to Endless Alphabet, set the stage for early reading success with Endless Reader! This app introduces "sight words", the most commonly used words in school, library, and children's books. Kids need to recognize these words by sight in order to achieve reading fluency. Recognizing sight words is advantageous for beginning readers because many of these words have unusual spelling, cannot be sounded out using phonics knowledge, and often cannot be represented using pictures.

Kids will have a blast learning sight words and their context and usage with the adorable Endless monsters. Each word features an interactive word puzzle with letters that come alive, and then a sentence puzzle with words that become what they describe. See the word "dog" as a barking dog, and the word "up" reach for the sky!

** NOTE: You must be online and have sufficient disk space while running the app to get all words in the app. **

- 6 words free to try with additional word packs available for purchase.
- Delightful animations reinforce sight recognition of words in a fun and interactive way.
- Word puzzles reinforce spelling using lower-case letters and the sentence puzzles teach definition and usage (in addition to sight recognition).
- Endless Reader was designed with your children in mind. There are no high scores, failures, limits or stress. Your children can interact with the app at their own pace.

Almost perfect

For its market, it's a wonderful app. It teaches the letters and their sounds in a fun and engaging way, and it's not over the head of my 2YO, who loves to play the game. It's very well designed and the word choices are impeccable for that age group. I really like this app. I also unlocked the word packages, which I thought were fair for the price. Like 12 bucks to teach my child to read in a fun way == priceless.

I would give this app five stars except for one thing: storage space. It's easily the largest memory user on my device, clocking in at 1.2G of memory. That's several orders of magnitude more than I would expect from an app. On more than one occasion I've filled up a 16G device and wish the developers had thought twice about using so much of my memory.

I would give it

Has future potential but currently has major flaws!

After spending just a few minutes in this app, I both loved its potential and hated its reality.

As an interactive way to engage with phonetically unfair sight words in a contextual, fun and colorful way, it was wonderful.

However, within just a few words of the beginning of the app as I was testing it for my students, I encountered a silent e in the word cake. Unfortunately, as you play with the letters and put them in their place within the word, the silent e character says it's short sound. This creates a confusable moment for students about what the letter e says at the end of words, (let alone that it can also say the long e sound in words) which as an educator is hard to unteach. This disappoints me immensely as it is a hugely confusable part of English phonics. A silent e should be a silent e. They missed an awesome opportunity here to create a shushing librarian e that said nothing but had a fun character that children related to.

Unfortunately this ended my enjoyment of the app and I will not recommend it to any of my students.

I hope that they take linguistics and phonological awareness into account and future updates so that I can change my review.

My 4 year old niece LOVES this app, along with all of their other reading/spelling apps. She started using this when she was about 2.5 years old and she still enjoys this app. The only negative is having to shell out $ for more words. There are a variety of words and I really like how it puts the word into a sentence. The sentences give kids context clues as to what the word is if they don't use it in everyday language. The graphics are SO adorable and even fun for us, as adults, to watch. Quite entertaining.
