Puzzles that mess with your reality

Foxyshadis

A fascinating puzzle game with malleable laws of physics and reality that shifts as you play. Much expanded from the original Microtones demo, there is now a huge complement of tough, stylish, sometimes unfair, but immensely challenging and satisfying mental gymnastics to wade through, making the app easily worth its price.

As the levels wear on, what little sense you thought you could make of it seems to drop away, replaced by an entirely alien logic that makes for fascinating, unique experiences - you really need to to against your own instincts many times in order to see the solution. Not for the easily frustrated.

Unfortunately, it borrows the same broken movement mechanic from Microtone, which means that the hot tile often tends to go everywhere except where you want it, and two-finger twists often being detected as single moves. In that game, it was annoying but easily correctable, but here it can easily lead to multiple restarts because some puzzles require perfect finesse. If it wasn't so overly sensitive, the game would be quite a bit less frustrating. Even up-down-left-right-in-out buttons would be better, but not as optimal as fixing the swiping.

Brilliant!

Seriously good puzzler in which different objects act according to an alien physics that is so seamless it is beautiful. This game is deep. There are multiple "worlds" of puzzles. The puzzles in some worlds focus on a particular concept in the alien physics, such as, how a larva behaves when you push it, how a whale behaves when you nudge one of its light beams, riding waves emitted from resonators, planting blocks, freezing the world, creating a self portrait. The variety of the alien concepts is impressive, but even more impressive is how well the concepts combine to create additional worlds of puzzles. This is where the game really shines.

For example, after you've solved puzzles by pushing larvae around and then solved puzzles pushing whales around, next you get a world of puzzles with both larvae and whales (my favorite world), and the combination of the physics of larvae and the physics of whales results in an even more engrossing puzzle.

This is one of the best puzzles games I've played. It is certainly the most creative. Thanks!

Smart, challenging, and lots of fun

You know that satisfied feeling you get when you solve a puzzle? Get ready for a whole lot of that. Each level is carefully crafted to require some thought (sometimes a whole lot of thought), but when you figure out the solution it makes you feel like a genius.

These are some of the best spatial reasoning puzzles I've seen in a long time. Each set of levels introduces a new element or rule, so it says interesting. And in the last set of levels, they mix and match elements, which makes for some fascinating and surprising results.
