It has potential, but…
The concept of this game is pretty rock solid. A time-based time-waster that you can play three or four times every day. It has satisfying creatures to smash, and copious amounts of loot. But this is where the game breaks down. The vast majority of treasure accrued is common. On rare occasions have I scored uncommon items, but as for rare items, I don't think I've gotten one yet, with the exception of the one I bought with in -game money. And as for items, at the high levels, it takes an ungodly amount of common items and gold to level them up.
I've been playing it for several months now, and the satisfying monster smashing has become repetitive and dull, because the rewards are few. It would be nice to actually score some real treasure every now and again. I have participated in every challenge, tournament, and quest that has come my way and have yet to earn even the mid-level prizes. Also, I appear to have run out of quests. Although there are many areas to expand into around my town, there are no quests that pertain to them.
And, just to be clear, I'm not a parasite gamer. I appreciate the time and effort that programmers put into these games. If I enjoy them, I spend some money. How much depends on how much I like their game. I haven't spent a lot on this game(less than $20) but unless the game expands and becomes a smidge more generous, I will feel that I have spent too much.
Good idea, needs balance
I like the idea, but the balancing is way off! In particular, there's way too many ways to gain metal and not enough to spend it on. As you progress, you gain buildings that give you metal every 15 minutes (by the barbarian storyline, if you've been upgrading your buildings a lot, which you probably have due to early buildings not giving much gold, over a DOZEN metal per metal-giving building every 15 minutes), when the only way to use metal is to upgrade buildings, which, if the upgrade even uses metal instead of gold, only uses 2 metal, can only be done to one building at a time, and requires you to wait until the upgrade's finished, which takes more time the more upgraded the building is, to do another upgrade. Please give us another way to use metal; my storeroom's almost full! I would particularly like it if you could trade it for starstones, as there's nothing I'm willing to do with them other than a chance for an epic equipment at the blacksmith's, which requires a whomping NINE HUNDRED NINETY NINE star stones.
Basically fun game
I really enjoy this game - when I can play it. While they have improved pvp, it is still amazingly slow in both loading the list of potential opponents and in loading the arena itself. Worse, after taking up to 2 minutes to load the arena, the attack begins almost instantly once it does load. So if your attention wanders in the eternity it takes to load, you often wind up dead before you know it.
On top of this, the game seems to crash more than any other I play. Worse, you frequently lose hard won prizes because of these crashes.
None of this would bother me if the game didn't have so much potential. I would simply delete the game and go on to some other. So I give it 3 stars. If they fix the slow loading or at least add a ready button after loading the arena and make the game more stable, I'll bump it to 4. 5 is reserved for outstanding games and while there is potential here, I'd be surprised if they manage to improve it to that point.
