Epicurious Recipes & Shopping List

By Condé Nast Digital

Open iTunes to buy and download apps.

Packed with free features and more than 35,000 of the highest-quality recipes, there’s a reason why home cooks have downloaded the award-winning Epicurious app more than 10 million times since the App Store opened. And our latest version is the ultimate food utility, faster, friendlier and redesigned to be even easier to use.

With our latest release, the app features the world's first intelligent kitchen timer for the Apple Watch. (Don't worry, iPhone users — it works on the phone, too.) Choose from 40+ ingredients from one of five categories — steak, vegetables, chicken & pork, seafood, eggs — and our custom timer will tell you how long just about anything takes to cook. We'll remind you to flip something over and give you pointers on how to tell when it's cooked perfectly.

Finally, an answer to the question: "Hey, is this done yet?"

You can also:

• Store your favorite recipes across all your devices with our recipe box and shopping list.

• Search more than 30,000 of the best recipes from publishers like Gourmet, Bon Appetit, Random House, and more—for free.

• Find out what vegetables are fresh and in-season with our Seasonal Ingredient Finder. NOTE: This features uses your location.

• Go hands-free in the kitchen, using your voice to control the app with Cook Mode.

• Browse inspired recipe collections that update as the seasons change and holidays approach.

We highly recommend you upgrade your operating system on a regular basis. The new Epicurious app for iPhone and iPad works best on IOS 8.

We want you to have a great experience. Please contact us at with any feedback and questions.

What's New in Version 5.0

We went away and spent the last couple months fixing some bugs. A lot of bugs. Like all of the bugs we could find. So, if you're a fan of improved performance and stability? You'll love this build. And if you're taking great pictures of the food you're cooking from the app, we want to know about it. Just use the hashtag #cookit. Thanks for supporting us!

Something fishy going on here

Six months ago, there was a forced upgrade of this app - the old version was immediately broken/disabled so you had to upgrade. I've been waiting to hear an explanation as to why this was necessary, but I'm done waiting. I'm deleting the app after writing this review.

I can only think of two plausible explanations for why such a forced upgrade would occur: 1) a major security breach or weakness in the app that exposed personal data to hackers; or 2) an incompetent design team who feels it's ok to push out major breaking changes with no warning, transition period, or explanation.

Given the complete lack of info from the developer, I think it's only prudent to act on the worst case assumption that your personal info was compromised and make sure you reset your password for any accounts where you shared the same password as your Epicurious account. (Yeah, we all know better than to share passwords in the first place, but laziness/convenience frequently trumps prudence.)

I'd be happy to revise my opinion as soon as the app developer explains what the forced upgrade was all about, but I'm not holding my breath at this point. My advice: find a different app written by a more responsible developer.

Locked out in CT

This is my go to app for recipes and menu ideas. I find it easy to use and content is great. I like being able to save recipes and create shopping lists. I rate it highly for that.

Unfortunately I recently changed my password using a password generator and failed to save it before quitting. I'm currently locked out of the app and have been unable to get any response from the forgot password link or any of the support links over the past days either on the app or website. Do these not work or does no one care? The app has a history of links not working, although - to be fair -some were fixed in the recent release.

Great recipes; not much of an app

5 stars for the recipes. Love the recipes. Share them on Facebook all the time.

The app itself is very ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It looks completely ridiculous on an iPad (although Thank You for supporting landscape mode), especially an iPad Pro. EVERYTHING IS GIGANTIC. SORRY FOR SCREAMING, BUT THAT'S WHAT THE APP IS DOING TO ME. 😄

Navigation is bizarre. Tap "Home" by mistake and you have to search for your recipe all over again. Why not have tabs?

Sharing was broken for the longest time, but I just tried it again and it seems to be working.

Print Preview was broken for a while, but I noticed that also seems to be fixed. Note there are 2 PRINT buttons, but only 1 works. Oh, wait, after using it, then Sharing is broken again. Only a couple buttons show up (no Facebook or Twitter) and Print Preview is blank.

App just feels very amateur. Why bother paying to save recipes in a hot mess like this?
