ESME provides community and support for single mothers

Our Mission: ESME [Empowering Solo Moms Everywhere] is a social platform dedicated to Solo Moms who face the challenge of solo parenting in a society that provides little help or guidance. Mothers on their own, whether by choice or circumstance, parent approximately 22 million American children. Moving beyond stereotypes, ESME offers Solo Moms inspiration, resources, allies, opportunities for creative expression, and some laughs along the way. ESME empowers a broad demographic of women who, despite differences in age, race, culture, and the route to single motherhood, are bound together in a conscious coalition that is strong, proud and dedicated to their children.

Founder's Welcome to ESME:

Whenever I describe ESME, people ask me, “Who are Solo Moms, exactly?” It’s an innocent question, but it can be a tough one to answer: Solo Moms are such a diverse group!

Stated most simply, Solo Moms are women who spend time parenting on their own.

Solo Moms are single moms, moms with joint custody, grandmothers who parent their grandchildren, and moms whose partners are deployed, disabled, or incarcerated. Solo Moms are moms whose partners are on the road a lot or living abroad, leaving them to do most of the parenting.

Some Solo Moms are raising children on their own by choice, whether through adoption, foster care, or artificial reproductive technology. Others become Solo Moms due to circumstance: a partner’s death, a surprise pregnancy, or a partnership that ended.

Solo Moms are straight, lesbian, old, young, black, white, Asian, Hispanic, rich, poor, employed, and unemployed. They represent every cultural background, level of education, passion, skill, and allegiance.

Where a Solo Mom lives, the color of her skin, and what’s in her bank account does not define what’s in her heart or what she shares with other Solo Moms. In ESME’s unconventional community, you will meet Solo Moms who seem just like you, as well as Solo Moms who will be here if your parenting journey takes you somewhere new and unfamiliar.

Solo Moms may sound different from one another, yet they share a common thread, a tie that binds their dreams, goals, and actions: every Solo Mom wants to be the best mother she can be, despite the challenges of parenting on her own. At ESME, the motto Independent Together expresses our conviction that Solo Moms have much to gain by exchanging information, experiences, and a laugh or two.

Whether you are pregnant with your first child, adopting, fostering, or an empty-nester with grown children, we are thrilled to have you join our community. By providing resources, inspiration, and a point of connection, we hope to start a social movement of Solo Moms coming together to celebrate the strong, wonderful mothers they are and will be.

We hope you find support here at ESME! Feel free to reach out to us as contact.us@esme.com

I hope you find the support you need.

Cheers!

Marika

Great community app for Solo Moms

Klmarshall321

This app is an awesome way to connect with other, like-minded Solo Moms, no matter your background. There are chat threads, articles, and a ton of helpful resources for all the mommas doing it on their own. Huge and helpful support network.

Great community for single moms!

This app is great for chatting and connecting to single moms, and for reading articles about us.

It’s great to have a place to turn to at the end of the day where everyone gets it!
