ETA - your driving and public transit assistant
Open iTunes to buy and download apps.
ETA is your personal driving assistant providing you with quick access to travel times and driving directions to all your favourite destinations.
Driving times to your locations are conveniently presented on a single screen with an indication of current traffic alongside. In a tap you're delivered pre-routed, turn-by-turn driving directions in your favourite navigation app.
Travelling by transit? No problems, ETA has you covered. In addition to driving and walking, ETA offers travel time travelling by public transportation (check http://www.apple.com/ios/feature-availability/#transit to see if this feature is available in your area).
ETA is simple to use and provides you with the information you need to navigate your city. It's also a great companion to the navigation apps you've come to love (including Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze, Transit and CityMapper).
ETA is available as an iPhone app, in the Today view of Notification Centre and on your Apple Watch.
To allow ongoing updating of the Complication for Apple Watch, ETA needs to operate in the background on your iPhone. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

What's New in Version 2.3.0
We’re excited to introduce ETA for iMessage. Share your arrival time to any destination from right within iMessage. Our app allows you to share from your saved location as well as search for any destination nearby. Friends can tap on your ETA to share their arrival time too!
Added to our new iMessage app are a number of improvements to ETA on Apple Watch. These include:
- New complications supporting the circular and extra large watch faces
- In the app find beautiful new location detail screen showcasing our ‘traffic thermometer’ outlining future traffic conditions.
- Scroll between location detail screens with the digital crown.
- General improvements across the complication and app (when in the dock) to increase speed of launch and data update.
- Ability to show arrival times in the app rather than just trip duration.
Our iOS app has also been updated:
- New Notification Centre widget supporting both large and small layouts
- Force touch on the ETA app icon to view small widget
- Added support for ‘Transit’ as a navigation app.
- Deeper integration with Siri. e.g. on a location detail screen ask Siri for “Direction to here” and instantly have a route plotted in Apple Maps.
That’s all for now. As always if you have any feedback email us at email@example.com or Twitter @whatsmyeta. We’re continually updating ETA so your feedback helps us improve the experience for all users.

Great on phone, inconsistent on Watch
First gen watch, OS3 as of yesterday. I installed this app near the end of last year specifically to use the Watch app because the complication seemed like an amazingly useful tool for my work commutes and travel in general. This feature still does not work properly along with the actual app on the watch. It essentially never updates the start point of my journey after I begin traveling so that even when i'm at my destination it still shows me the estimated travel time from where I started. If I open the app on my phone it correctly updates on there and then if I look at the watch it immediately updates to what the phone showed. That doesn't inspire the watch app to correctly update on its own, however, so it will continue to show me travel time from wherever I opened the app on my phone until I open the phone app again. Not exactly the point.
in terms of estimating travel time i think it works just fine. usually in the same range as other map estimates. basically it's the Watch app that doesn't seem to work.
Apple Watch 3.0 Now Working With ETA
With the early update release to Apple Watch 3.0, my ETA app disappeared from my Apple Watch running 2.0. I got in touch with support and they told me that with the release of Apple Watch 3.0, version 2.0 would not be supported and no longer available to use. With the release of iOS 10, I assumed the Apple Watch would be updated to 3.0 as part of the process. I updated to iOS 10 and still no ETA on my watch. I contacted ETA and they were fast with a response that perhaps my 3.0 didn't update. They suggested that I go to the Watch iPhone app, go to General and check Software Update. There was the issue, I had to manually update my Watch to 3.0 and the problem solved with ETA back on my Watch and complications. Great and speedy support from the folks at ETA!
Great App, but not perfect.
I really like the app and the idea of having a complication on my watch that will tell me how long it'll take for me to drive home, but I've been using it for a while and I've found that the travel times are just not as accurate as google.
I'm not sure what this developer can do to improve that and I'm also not sure what they're allowed to use on the backend to determine the travel times. I sometimes rely on that to know when to leave work in NJ back to NYC to pick up my daughter on time. Otherwise I like the app a lot. Hopefully travel times in my area can be updated and a little more accurate.
