The European Rail Timetable App is a concise guide to rail and ferry schedules throughout Europe, and even includes each month an area of the world outside of Europe.  A new edition of the Timetable is published at the beginning of each month, as well as an extended version released in summer and winter.

Produced by the former compilers of the Thomas Cook European Rail Timetable it still remains the unique must have for Inter-Railers and Eurailers, as well as travel agents, independent travellers and libraries. It has all the relevant detail needed for travelling around Europe, the schedule of trains, important bus routes and shipping services as well as key country information.

The app is a faithful copy of the pages contained in the latest printed European Rail Timetable, benefits of the App include, access to monthly editions up to a week earlier than the printed copy, cheaper than the printed copy and has no postage costs.

Ratings and Reviews

Not nearly robust enough reader

First off, the content through ERT is fantastic. It’s exactly what it says it is - authoritative and informative.

That said, the reader platform is just rudimentary to the point of affecting the overall usefulness of the product. Much of what is unavailable here are features that even the simplest e-reader has. Key missing features include:

-Bookmarking pages
-Easily switching between marked pages
-Highlighting specific text
-Page numbers in thumbnail menu view

For example: the map of France is on pages 170-171. The timetables are from pages 172 to 235 or so. To find a line’s timetable, you get the number off of the map and go find the timetable. Double checking, looking at different lines, etc. means endlessly thumbing back and forth through as many as 60 pages to find what I need. And forget about marking it for later. If I am standing on a train station platform in France, my only choice is to begin the whole process again from scratch.

Great product, but the lack of basic features in the app prevents the product from being truly useful.
