Great digital mind

I'm a small business owner. I use Evernote for everything. I track business miles on car, expenses, to do lists, reminders for actions items for each of my team members and their customers. I even track inventory with pictures that are archived and search able. The fact that all text even text in pictures is a major feature that has transformed my digital mind. The key to making Evernote work magic for you is to have the right file architecture. I recommend reading Mike Hyatt's blog on the subject. I would also recommend the book Getting Things Done by David Allen. The inbox method is fantastic for Evernote. If it is tagged as inbox I know it is an open item. After completing the item I change the tag to something else so that it doesn't show in my inbox. As with any app it can always be better. The screen jumps on iOS when editing existing note and is very frustrating. That's why I chose 4 stars.

Not too shabby, room for improvement

A top-notch app with a ton of useful features. While there are a number of annoyances with text selection, overall, an app I trust to my day-to-day routine.

Welcoming improvements currently missing include:
+ Could use table formatting options (like the Mac & PC desktop versions) as well as more task list options (retain outline format on copy-paste, 5-star ratings per line item, other form elements (like radio buttons, drop-down select lists, etc.).

+ The 1 BIG, BIG, BIG feature that's missing is the ability to easily re-order items in my task lists. Add that, and I'll up my rating.

+ Love the Skitch integration. It could be better (ex: adding another icon next to the other add image icons labeled "Skitch It").

+ Needs a better path to import files *from* or grab the share link *to* files in my Dropbox account.

Besides the fact that most font & style formatting goes out the window between Mac & PC (this has always been an cross-platform issue, not just an Evernote issue), syncing notes between all my devices (mobile, desktop, Mac & PC) works flawlessly, which makes me very happy.

All-in-all a very solid app with lots of room for improvement.

Looking forward to Evernote's continued development efforts. Shoot, I might ever upgrade to Premium if the additional features above were included.

Thanks for all the hard work Evernote peeps!

Annoying, but handy

Lately Evernote has been really aggressive about pushing us to use its paid versions, continually interrupting our note taking to get us to move to pay or pay more. It has a desperateness to it that worries me. Is Evernote struggling financially? Do I need to start the process of archiving my notes and leaving Evernote before I can't access them anymore?

Evernote has been an essential tool of my every day life for years now. However, it is just annoying enough that I still keep an eye on the ever evolving alternatives out there.

Evernote's evolution seems to be driven more by what the company wants, rather than by what users want. For example, no one I know wants to chat with other Evernote users via Evernote, a feature Evernote always pushes, but everyone I know wants a better way to integrate on screen drawing with our typed notes in Evernote.

I also wish Evernote would pause a moment from building features we don't want, and spend some time fixing bugs and improving the UI of existing features.

Most of all, I wish Evernote would put more thought into synchronization between devices. The most annoying and time consuming "bug" we put up with in Evernote is fixing our note documents from sync conflicts.
