Good app for learning and basic simulation


I’ve been using this for a couple of years now, and it works well for visually reinforcing concepts you may have learned in class or while reading tutorials on the web or elsewhere. It saves a lot of trouble of having to breadboard simple circuits just to see the mechanics of how a particular circuit works.

Couple of improvements could be made though.

Workspace, even in the paid version, is still a tad small. You either have to very carefully plan out where to place things to keep the schematic compact, or you’ll be moving parts in the middle of a design just to make room.

There is no way to adjust the y axis on the scope function, so it is constantly rescaling that axis when you make adjustments to a component’s value. Not so much a problem with DC, but trying to observe any kind of waveform you can’t really see how the amplitude of the waveform is changing like you can on an actual scope, except to watch the (rapidly changing) scale on the y axis.

There are some quirks that sometimes give erratic results or throw up an error when you try to run them, usually a quick search on the web produces a work around, but just be aware that sometimes even relatively simple circuits can cause the app problems even though you may have a perfectly functioning physical circuit.

So far, the only virtual EC app I’ve seen on iTunes


... and it works very well (provided you know basic electronics - there is very little in explanation of the components in the app). I’ve not worked with hands-on electronics for awhile; however, I’ve recently came across a reboot of an all-in-one electronics kit and have found this app an excellent addition to “see” what’s happening within the kit’s setups. I give the neat-top rating because of rarity of app and implementation.

I ask for a potentiometer where upper and lower resistance limits can be adjusted, a center-tap transformer and a possible audio / RF input/output simulation :)

Simple to use. The best electronics simulation app for iOS that I've seen. The other review said "not that great" with no explanation. Weird. I use this app every day. It's awesome.

The only place I would give criticism is because of the limited number of items to choose when design circuits. Also some components do not accurately simulate "real world conditions." They are more ideal and you have to account for non-ideal conditions in the real world. Other than these minor gripes. Love the app!!
