What's New in Version 1.0.2
Fixed, task switching related, game freeze problem
As many previous reviewers, the beginning of this game is great, easy to press the correct numbers. When the puzzles get harder, the numbers to press get smaller and it sometimes takes 4-6 times to select a number, however every "miss" counts against you, even if there is only ONE number left to select! Tried to opt out of "give possible options" in the options tab, thinking I could then touch the squares but not get "punished" since i would not get so called "help", but nope, you touch the square, you get a count against you. This also goes for selecting a wrong number, which is ONE count, then unselecting that number will be another ONE count, after which you have to select a new number which will be another count. Figured out that the "undo" button will eliminate the second step, but practically, I still "reflex" often by "unselecting" a wrong choice.
Anyway, there are issues that need to get fixed for this game not to become a frustration later on, and I don't think the fix will be that difficult. So please fix to keep this game a challenge the beat under "par"! Oh and "eliminating" a number also counts as a "try", as does selecting a color for the square. That all just seems like silly since these are aides to solve the puzzle which only goal is to get the correct number, not the color of the square. Why would anyone eliminate a number or color a square if it is counted against you as a "wrong"?
Fantastic number puzzler
This number puzzler has quite a few different types of value constraints and introduces them gradually over levels. While there are a huge number of puzzles to solve, you can skip as many as you want as long as you solve each levels' "challenge puzzle". If you feel the urge, you can go back later and play skipped or already played puzzles. So we have been provided the benefit of a lot of puzzles without any drawbacks.
Some folks have complained about the game's interface, but I think it is pretty logical and allows me to perform all the puzzle-related tasks I can think of (no separate notes are required). Yes, sometimes I find myself fat-fingering an unintentional move, but it is easily undone and the only penalty is on the number of moves you make (which the game measures against a "par value"); it does not interfere with getting to the solution.
My only criticism of the game is that the really nice tutorial, accessed from the main menu, fails to mention that you can remove a candidate number from a square by double tapping on it. It took me quite a while before I figured this handy feature out.
I would say this is by far the best numerical puzzler I have ever played. If you enjoy the genre, don't miss this.
This is a good app, but SIX issues
Lots of levels make this enjoyable for hours of play, but I've got some issues, one of which is reflected in many reviews: tiny numbers. There is plenty of room onscreen, so fix it!
Another problem is that touching the numbers very often results in the number not being selected, yet adding to my steps. No fair! Another tap is often no better. If I'm doing double boards, sometimes the other board will select the number. Another solution can be to select the undo button, but I still get charged for a step.
And then, sometimes a number I've selected glows red even if it's correct. Again, if I tap on the other board it gets accepted. Of course I can also reset the puzzle which is fine if I haven't gotten very far.
