Could be improved
I have loved Expedia since I started traveling on my own and the checkout process is always easy for me. Overall the app is decent and could use a few more features. For example when searching for an all inclusive on the website you can filter that option but in the app you must scroll through all hotels, motels and resorts. Also, I wish that you didn’t have to specifically search from one airport. The app states that it’s to help you find the best deal but to me the best deal would be found by checking all available airports that I am willing to travel to without having to research and put back in all of my filters every time. Also, they claim that it is cheaper to book through the app but I have always found that the better bundles are found on the website. It would also be nice if there was an “availability calendar” like on some other sights where you can see how much cheaper it would be to stay a different night. Another feature that would interest me is being able to search an entire country as your destination to try to find new and cool places to stay in a specific country.
Payless aka Avis Car Rental, just as bad customer service as Expedia
I made my reservation through the app and then it change the drop off location to a place that was over 30 minutes away for me. I did not mention this when I picked up the car because when I tried to pick up the car they had me down for an economy size when I had made a reservation for a midsize car. They had given my car away is what I was told. So then I had to show the representative at the car rental counter where my reservation clearly says midsize. It took them over an hour to bring me my car rental. Then when I finally got to my destination which is about six hours away I tried to call Expedia and get them to fix their mistake. This was a huge mistake because I wasn’t able to get anywhere since I already picked up the car. I was transferred to Payless, who Expedia rep said he talk to and explain the situation. When I got on the phone I was not able to get them to understand that I was not extending my rental, But I was trying to simply correct the drop off point. Neither Expedia nor the Payless Customer Service, a.k.a. Avis car rental, helped instead I was asked for last for my credit card that I used to reserve the car I provided that and I was told it was incorrect. Which is ridiculous since I am looking at the card that I used and I am repeating the numbers that are there on the card. I will never use Expedia again and I am a first time and last time customer a Payless a.k.a. Avis car rental.
Horrible customer service!!!!
I booked the GSR hotel in Reno through Expedia last night. The rate per night was $116 plus taxes. After I selected that room it gave me the option of paying up font with not cancellation and the total will be $281 or pay later for an amount much larger. I selected the $281 and paid with my credit card. I received an itinerary confirmation and I noticed I was charged $451!!!!
I called right the way and I was on the call for 1h 9m. They passed me around, put me on hold multiple times and didn’t solved the issue. I even provide them screenshots I took showing the $116 rate on my computer!!!! At that point they told me that rate was for a different account, which I provide the right information for “that account” and they told me that the only thing they could do is reimburse my credit card.... and it will ONLY take 5 business days to get my money back! That’s just fantastic! At that point I asked to talk to management and they told me they only work until 5pm. I ask to transfer me to their voicemail mail, he told me he could do that. I asked to be put though a survey so I can share my experience and he said not to that too. I finally ask for his full name and I got “Luke” and I asked for the last name and he told me “they don’t give last names”.
That was far THE MOST FRUSTRATING customer experience I ever had. At this point I will not been using Expedia ever again for my travels. And I’ll make sure to share my experience with friends and family.
