The official 9/11 Memorial application has been created by the National September 11 Memorial & Museum as a guide to understanding 9/11 through the eyes of who witnessed the events. Given the sensitivity surrounding the events of 9/11, viewer discretion is advised.
The app has three features:
A seven-stop walking tour of the area around the World Trade Center, accompanied by audio and photo narration. The events of the day and its aftermath are told by first responders, rescue workers, volunteers, and those who lived and worked in Lower Manhattan on 9/11. While the walking tour takes place in Lower Manhattan, the tour content is accessible to users anywhere.
View images related to the events of 9/11 and their aftermath taken nearby wherever you are. Photos may be viewed in Augmented Reality-technology mode which overlays images on the camera view. All photos were contributed to the museum by survivors and witnesses through 911history.org.
An interactive timeline of the day’s events and aftermath. Includes links to witness photos taken during these time blocks.
The app can operate in an offline mode for non-U.S. visitors who have disabled data roaming. In this mode, all tour content is still accessible. The app includes a map of free WiFi hotspots near the tour route for downloading “Explore” photos from the vicinity.

Disrespect will not stand!!!
This is directed at the disrespectful, insensitive, classless, and overall ignorant statements that were put out by people such as "eatthesword", "Britney's future husband......", and every other person that wrote hateful, uneducated comments for this app's review. The fact is that what you're writing is not a review of this product. It's not a review of how well the app does or does not work, but instead it is an attack on every person who felt the horror of that day. That includes every heroic person that we lost that day, the thousands of people who were directly connected to those who were lost that day (be that a family member, friend or even an acquaintance), and every single soul that had to watch, listen, and feel the pain and anguish of those who were there, those who lived the the terror of that day. So don't you, an insignificant little worm of a human being, even try and sit on you high horse and pass judgement on something of which you have no clue about! The gravity of yours words, when all is said and done, will come back to bite you, and I hope deliver you some humility so that next time you'll learn to shut your mouth!!! Oh and by the way "eatthesword" or whatever your stupid name is, the attacks on 9/11 were the worst of any terrorist act ever dealt on U.S. soil. Learn your history you moron!!!
I knew when I read the reviews that some lame brained conspiracy theorists and/or America haters would rear their ugly heads and sadly, I was right. For the record, this is a nice tribute. Not overly sappy but a memorial to the victims and putting events into a historical perspective. For those who downloaded this app just to leave a bad review....how sad. Those who talk about Tower 7 should take real physics classes rather than learn science from Rosie O'Donnell and Alex Jones. So...if you are a conspiracy theorist, you will not like this as it is an historical record of the event and not a dramatic silly loose change kind of thing. If you are interested in the event itself, and live in across the country and won't be able to walk the tour personally, this is nice. Also for those who say to move on...remembering an event is part of moving on. 9/11 is like Pearl Harbor, Valley Forge, Shiloh, Gettysburg, D-Day, the assasination of Lincoln or Kennedy etc., when those of us alive are gone, the event remains as our history. This is a good start.
Great History Lesson
Someone once said, "Those who forget the past, are destined to repeat it". Truer words have never been said! This app gives those who weren't born, or too young to experience this horrific act against America, can learn from our mistake at not taking extremists seriously.
Everyday, in almost everything I do, I relive pre, and post 9/11 events. When I watch a movie, and the towers are in the background, I wonder how many people who lost there lives we're at work the day this shot was filmed?
America needs to wake up, and pay attention to the rest of the world! We can not let this happen again!
This is a GREAT tribute to not only the Americans who died on that day, but to the citizens of other countries also present on the planes, in the Twin Towers, and at the Pentagon.
To the creators of this app I say a very heart felt Thank you. I will NEVER forget!
