Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. Facebook doesn't run GPS in the background unless you give us permission by turning on optional features that require this.

Harder to use all the time
So, I use Facebook to keep up with friends and family. Long ago, FB dropped the chronological view in favor of their obnoxious algorithm. I had to resolve this by creating a separate feed so I could actually see all of the posts of friends and family, and I can still do and chronologically. However, since blocking apps doesn't work in feed view, it means I've had to drop people from the feed I would like to follow who have the unfortunate habit of using apps that spam their timelines (Candy Crush, Deezer, etc.)
Now even this solution is all but useless. Lately, my feed will only populate posts from the past several hours, then a little gray dot appears after which nothing will load. Since I only check Facebook once in the morning, this means I am still missing a lot of stuff.
It seems Facebook is trying very hard to nudge users like me to use the app the way THEY want me to. What they are succeeding in doing instead is making me consider deleting my account.
Also: now it is impossible to deal with messages on my phone (No, I will not download another FB app - you get one), since it is no longer possible to reply using phone browser.
Over 10 years gone.
I was hacked by someone abusing Facebook market. My phone blew up with messages as someone posted ads all over the US for a used truck. It was an automated phishing scam. As I changed my password and tried to find help through Facebook's support page, my account was logged out and disabled. I have appealed, uploaded proper ID and cannot get a response back or assistance. I'm at a loss. I have no way to contact with several friends that were on Facebook and my friends and family are 1500 miles away from me. I'm glad Facebook wants to protect privacy, but there is no assistance once YOU'VE been violated because your ACCOUNT broke their TOS. I did NOTHING wrong, but was shut down because marketplace is an unsafe option that was on my account and I never had intentions to utilize it.
Keeps me occupied
Having FB keeps me occupied when I have downtime. I don't watch cable so I can get updates on the news from my local stations via FB. It allows me to stay in touch with my friends & family much easier than snail mail & email. The most recent update isn't allowing me to Share Posts using the writing with them option. That seems to be the only issue right now. My only other complaint is having to have the messenger app. I liked when the fb app didn't need a secondary downloaded app for messages. It saved space and the messenger app doesn't alert me to messages.
