Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. Facebook doesn’t run GPS in the background unless you give us permission by turning on optional features that require this.
What's New in Version 25.0
Thanks for using Facebook! To make our app better for you, we bring updates to the App Store every 2 weeks. You can update the app automatically (without checking back here) by going to Settings > iTunes & App Store > Automatic Downloads and turning on Updates.
Every update of our Facebook app includes improvements for speed and reliability. As other new features become available, we’ll highlight those for you in the app.
There are updates, but you don't see/feel them.
2/28 - another update. None of the problems below were fixed. Now one more: loading items on news feed will make the app freeze, and killing it to return to the app won't help.
Surely the updates that the app receives every other week is a good thing. But every time it makes changes that you DO see, are ones that are the most annoying and not very constructive. The last change they made was moved Messenger OUT of the Facebook app itself, and then have to make you download a separate app to use the same function. That's not a good experience and very frustrating. There is also a bug that seems to be unnoticed ever since the app allows videos to be played inline in the feeds. When you have a video playing, if you are also playing music, the app will automatically turn down the volume of your own music, so you can hear the audio from the video. This is fine, if the app is smart enough to give me back my music to normal volume afterwards, but it doesn't, and will only resume normal after killing the app. For some reasons, apps like Instagram and whatsapp (both of which are now under the Facebook empire) do multimedia sharing and messaging better. Why not combine all three, or just let the Facebook app does its best and only job - news feed.
It's getting to the point where I think that te creators of the Facebook app do not care about the comments of its actual users. I have read a lot of the reviews since your current update and no one was happy I am also not happy. This is the most frustrating app I have ever downloaded I thank you thank you thst it's free but if you're going to offer an app that's free you shouldn't advertise that it's going to be a great app like you do. It freezes it crashes I can't ehardly ever look at an article or a page that I like without the app crashing kicking me out and God for bid I go back to my newsfeed to try to look and find the same article that I was previously reading because now my Facebook has done upload 10,000 other things and status updates that were from yesterday you need to get this problem fixed and according to all of the other users I'm not the only person that feels this way I am pretty sure by your current review status that you're going to be losing a lot of Facebook app users are use my Facebook for my mini iPad as well as my Moto X phone and have many problems on my on my phone but I have Majority of my problems on my iPad
Just stop already!
Updated review: Enough with the bs biweekly updates! At least tell us what you're "fixing" because more often than not I see no changes or ones that are so minuscule you barely notice. Most of the time after an update something doesn't work. Like this most recent one, I can only see the first few posts in my groups then it's blank.
I truly believe the only reason you're doing such frequent updates is to reset your ratings because I see more 1 stars and crappy reviews then, poof, new update and higher rating. How about listening to your consumers? You may actually get some decent reviews for once if you'd stop this absurdity. With so many complaints about the same sort of things, you'd think you'd want to keep people interested in keeping this app.
So knock it off facebook app designers. Give the people what they want for a change. Be forthcoming instead of vague. Actually improve our app experience and maybe you won't have to resort to frequent updates to reset your ratings. That's just customer service common sense!
Original review: I can't even get my fb app to load anymore. Quit changing things so often. It's taking up precious space on my phone with each update and doesn't even work most of the time. If fb wasn't one of the only ways to keep in contact with the people I care about, I'd get rid of it. Even the desktop version stinks.
