When will FB hear us
We don't want two feeds. We don't want your algorithms deciding what you think we want to see. We just want to see the items in the order received. Seeing way too much junk. There needs to be a way to control whether or not I want to see everything a person likes or comments on. A while back there was more control. Now it's either all or nothing. For many people that are only acquaintances I only want to see something that they enter in their status. I don't want to see junk they share or like or all of their photos. My only option is to not follow them...or un-friend them.
Also why does their need to be two feeds that are almost identical...news feeds and recent? There are only subtle differences. I end up wasting time scrolling through a lot of the same info just to see the few differences.
I also hesitate to comment. like or share anything because I know everyone will see it and not just the person I wrote the comment for or liked their post.
I have just a handful of close friends for which I want to see everything. Most of the other people I just don't follow. It's a shame. I would love to keep in touch if I could just limit to a status that they actually type in.
Please wake up FB and hear our cries.
Worst update ever
I'm usually very hesitant to update apps because they tend to cause problems, and this most recent update was bad enough to prompt my first complaint ever. The first thing I noticed was that the posts are more difficult to read. To test this I compared a screen shot of an old post taken prior to the update to the same post taken after the update. Indeed, the old post was 23 lines long compared to the new one at 26 lines. There is no adjustment for the size of FB posts on an iPhone 5s. Secondly, the 'most recent' post option has given way to an exercise in patience in reading repetitive, and I mean seeing the same post 3 or 4 times while scrolling through miles of news feed to find the most recent posts you want to see. More times than not, I've missed event announcements because my news feed is still giving me stuff I've already seen several times or two days ago. Thirdly, this app is crashing regularly. In the 10 years I've been on FB, this is the worst it's ever been. Please correct these issues and get it back to a timely, easier to read app that can function as it was designed to be. Honestly, if there were a negative star rating I would have selected it, rather than the single star it got.
Videos almost never work correctly, until recently the volume goes in and out spontaneously, but I have reason to believe that this issue has been resolved. Also the notifications are getting out of hand. I do not need to hear about something or another once or twice a day, but I never see one day without at least one notification from this app. I care about birthdays and tags and things like that but if something doesn't happen for 12 hours then FB makes up a random notification and sends it to me. I am seeing the results of what must be a behavior experiment which is definitely impressive and providing results as only things that I am interested in are popping up on my notifications, but at least cool it on the frequency. Facebook absolutely monitors any and all activity within their domain and uses it quite strategically to formulate suggestions and notifications and even organize the news feed. This is interesting and possibly groundbreaking, but at least let the participants know what they are doing and make it easier to opt out while still receiving the general benefits of being involved in a non invasive social media website.
