Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. Facebook doesn't run GPS in the background unless you give us permission by turning on optional features that require this.
What's New in Version 142.0
Thanks for using Facebook! To make our app better for you, we bring updates to the App Store regularly.
Every update of our Facebook app includes improvements for speed and reliability. As new features become available, we’ll highlight those for you in the app.
Too many ridiculous updates
Be aware that the updates "to improve the experience" are ways around your privacy. Their updates will modify your privacy settings so they can still advertise to you. They'll change things you need to know. I go to delete or edit a post and they've changed how to delete or edit a post again. I wish they'd update when they need to and stop changing it every week. Every time I go to my updates, there's Facebook (like a huge zit you can't get rid of) waiting to be updated. I'm so fed up with their way too frequent updates, I'm ready to dump it. Honestly, they're like a teen-ager whose getting ready for their first school dance and can't decide what to wear. They just keep changing. They need to fix problems without forcing us to update their app every week! To save my battery I make sure Facebook isn't on my auto app refresh. It's almost easier to go online and I refuse to sign in to any account via Facebook. For everyone's protection, don't allow Facebook access to various social networking sites. They're already gathering too much info on users. Don't give them more access to your personal data!
The video problem was fixed but unfortunately the freezing and shutting down still happens and so does the notifications. It said I had 5 and only had 2. Just a few moments ago it said I had 3 and only had 1. This is the only social media app that gives me problems like this.
This app is ridiculous! It's constantly freezing and shutting down. Also when I am scrolling through my news feed and see a video, if I want to watch it i click on it. It never uploads! It just buffers. This is using wifi and my reg data package. It acts the same no matter if I use wifi or data. FIX this!!!!! *Most recent problem is I keep getting notifications and I don't have any! Or it will say I have 2 notifications when I only have one. It's been happening since the new update!*
Needs more notification control
I linked my Instagram account with Facebook. I don't have push notifications on my phone about Instagram, but I do for Facebook. Now, this app is giving me push notifications for Instagram, with an annoying red notification on my profile photo in the top corner. I don't care about those notifications, and I cannot find away to turn them off.
I also can't find a way to turn off notifications of events my friends are interested in. That's great. I'm not going. Don't remind me of an event I didn't indicate any interest in.
I get that increased notifications means more Facebook activity, but you've actually lost me, as I now turn off all notifications for this app on my phone. Fix this!
