Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. Facebook doesn't run GPS in the background unless you give us permission by turning on optional features that require this.
What's New in Version 55.0
Thanks for using Facebook! To make our app better for you, we bring updates to the App Store regularly.
Every update of our Facebook app includes improvements for speed and reliability. As new features become available, we’ll highlight those for you in the app.
The Antisocial Network (still)
MAY 19: New iPhone 6s purchased & now Fbook shows new bugs: "like" & "love" icons are now INVISIBLE choices, all other "face" icons are missing the color yellow! Notifications are not always matching actual activity/responses/etc. Feed still non-chronological (can't remain informed on any-thing/one relevant). Make "Most Recent" default, please! Forgets where you were if forced to leave the app to use Messenger, coming back to nothingness. This is a programming mess of an app. Overall: Facebook has "reinvented" itself to the point of devolution. Why, w/billions in net assets, can't Fbook afford to give its users easy access to the "Most Recent" option as a default IN OUR newsfeed? Why take private messages into an entirely separate app within an app w/o proper "back to Facebook" navigation programming? With continual "updates" that don't fix core problems, only introducing (unwanted) "new features": Fbook has managed to continually make my experience less social, less involved & especially less informed about my friends' lives, sadly. Fbook has become its own antithesis: The Antisocial Network.
Update = backdate!!
Every update Facebook releases claims to improve speed and reliability, however user-friendly options are being removed that date the app back to 2013!!
I rather enjoy the On This Day feature, however the post options have gone from many to ONE. No more removing tags, editing posts (for those of us obsessed with grammar), and no more deleting!!! Lives change and it would be nice to remove unwanted "memories" completely.
The Saved Links feature could be better improved with a delete option, as well. I have many saved links that were accidental and therefore don't need to be archived.
Finally, update releases with descriptions of the actual updates isn't so farfetched, and not quite as often. Instead of updating the app ever 2 weeks, and in some cases more often, once a month is quite sufficient.
Take a hint from Netflix - out with the old and in with the new.
I am on FB daily, it's my window to the world friends family and I like it a lot. I can post comment add pics or videos...but some outside sites of videos take along time to load or kicks me out of FB or locks up with a blank screen...and getting on FB takes awhile to get on. I am connected to FB by family so I'll get use to service that's intermittent.@@@@
For while now videos or signing in takes awhile to see. When viewing videos it's so slow and if you tap twice a black screen shows for 60 second and it is closed out on FB..takes another seconds and FB is blank before it shows a news feed. Any video I tap on to odds are it will shutdown FB on my iPad ...2 months now I have been waiting for update..please fix, thank you *********
It's Sept now and okie dokie, but videos take awhile to load but pretty much A-ok :).
Had some issues in Dec but much better now..it still takes alittle time to display feed but it's improving ....when you update a comment tho it takes quite awhile or redoing from private to public.
The March update slows down FB...I have to click comments twice before it shows posted comments...correcting a post takes along time, and it always shows the uncorrected post until you pull it down to show updates..still like my window to the world on FB....in a wheelchair it's fabulous!
