The official Fairfax County government iPhone/iPad app connects you with key information and services for Virginia's most populous and thriving county with more than 1 million people located outside of Washington, DC. The first version of our app features nine sections:
One-touch calling of our main 703-FAIRFAX phone number, critical emergency phone numbers, libraries, parks, courts and by department/program.
Use the GPS features of your device to find the nearest library, park, community center, fire station, police station and government buildings.
Browse upcoming public meetings, community events, tax deadlines and more.
Each business day, the Fairfax County NewsWire features the latest headlines from all county departments. Consult this central resource for the latest county news or sort by topic.
Using mobile devices before, during and after emergencies has become critical. Our new mobile emergency homepage is your optimized resource for the latest updates about major incidents or weather events that includes text/email alerts, social media updates, emergency RSS news feed, important phone numbers, seasonal preparedness information, recovery resources, mobile weather forecast, and links to key county, state and federal emergency agencies.
Links to the mobile versions of all official county government social media sites on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr and podcasts on iTunes. Like us, follow us, watch a video, view pictures or listen to podcasts on iTunes through our coordinated social media efforts.
Key links to major transportation resources such as the Connector bus, Metro, VRE, bikes, pedestrians, Virginia Department of Transportation and more.
Quick access to our 10-member Board of Supervisors with links to mobile versions of their web pages, meeting schedule, agendas and more.
Search our entire website for the information you need or navigate through our mobile website m.fairfaxcounty.gov.
These nine icons can be rearranged to your preferences. Most content can be sent via email or text message. We are already planning more icons, information and features for the next version of the app, including mobile-friendly online services, enhanced mapping tools and more. We'd like to hear your content ideas, too -- email us at email@example.com.
Updated the links in the app due to site redesign.
Ratings and Reviews
Mystery to me
Don't let the app images fool you. All you get when it opens are unlabeled icons that you have to guess at what they mean. Once (if) you can find the right area a good amount of county information is available. For one of the wealthiest counties in the nation this app is half *** at best.
Good concept, but...
Needs improvement for newer iOS software and needs better advertising for people to start using it
Fairfax County (Virginia) Government app for iPad
The Library tab in this app is not optimized for the iPad. It displays only the left portion of the pages vertically, with no way to view the right part of each page - regardless of any swiping motions. It completely fails to orient in the horizontal view. Likewise, it does not allow saving of the library card number from one visit to the next, resulting in tediously re-entering the 14 digits at the time of each visit. Please correct these oversights and glitches. Thank you.
Please note: The Library tab for this app merits zero stars, yet the review functionality requires the entry of at least one star.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
