Description

Experience the most realistic, challenging, and immersive air-combat simulation you can get!

The classic air combat simulation comes to Mac! Pilot three different variants of the F-16 Fighting Falcon, the best multi-role fighter ever built. Engage the enemy in the skies over North Korea or The Balkans, each covering over a million square kilometers of territory. High-fidelity flight physics, ultra-realistic cockpit instrumentation, and legendary dynamic campaign engine make Falcon 4.0: Allied Force singular among combat flight simulations.

Simulate an entire war with the most advanced dynamic campaign engine ever made for your computer. This remarkable feature presides over tens of thousands of vehicles; air, land and sea. No two missions ever fly the same!

Unleash real-world weapons including air-to-air missiles like the AIM-120 AMRAAM and AIM-9 Sidewinder. Deploy a vast array of air-to-ground weaponry including the AGM-65 Maverick, AGM-88 HARM, cluster bombs, slick and high drag bombs and laser-guided ordnance.

“No flight sim can hold a candle to the dynamic gameplay of [Falcon 4.0: Allied Force], and I doubt that anything ever will. If you want the most realistic combat simulation on the market, I suggest you pick up this game as fast as you can! ”
—PC Gameworld

“[Falcon 4.0: Allied Force] heralds yet another milestone in the story of what many feel is simply the greatest air combat simulation ever made for the computer.”
—SimHQ.com

“The immersion of a campaign with all the ground, sea, and other air units is where this simmer thrives, and there are no equals.”
—Combatsim.com

“If you have ever wanted to see what it is like to be an F16 driver, then this sim is for you. You will literally feel the need for speed as you push this aircraft through its limits and make the journey that is known as Allied Force!”
—AVSim.com

“The ongoing war on the air, on ground, and even at sea plays out in real time and is more believable than any simulation campaign ever released." "The level of detail is staggering, and few simulations do this good a job of making players feel like there is a real war going on around them at all times.”
—GameSpot.com

PLEASE NOTE: Falcon 4.0: Allied Force is a super-high fidelity simulation of a fighter jet aircraft, and as such is not intended to be a "casual game." Expect a learning curve to become proficient, just as a real combat pilot would.

JOYSTICK SUPPORT: A joystick is highly recommended. Some older joysticks are not supported, so if yours is older than 6 years, please contact Graphsim support to verify your make and model before purchasing. Also note that aircraft are not steerable using the mouse or a trackpad.

Falcon!

This is as close to an actual training simulation as you can get. Far more than a "game", this is a real simulation of the F-16 and the combat envirionment based on the experience of many contributors over the years since Falcon 1.0 was first released. As has been said, people whom know and follow this sim know what it is...there isn't space here to say enough.

With settings in their most realistic modes you will get a full, extemely complex experience - people new to Falcon should be prepared to study, learn, and progress; use the Training missions! Played on my Mac Mini and 55" flat screen TV the presentation is just slightly larger than life size, very immersive, and runs very nicely. The only thing that stops me from giving it 5 stars are a few remaining interface issues which one may find as one gets deeper into use and understanding; and the lack of true wide screen graphics, but the Support staff at Graphsim have been very responsive to e-mails and hopefully this isn't the last update for this fantastic sim.

Advice for serious Mac simmers/cockpit builders/gamers - ControllerMate by Ordered Bytes is a BIG leg-up for using various joysticks, controllers, etc. with this or any Mac game or sim. Using ControllerMate I've even been able to implement proportional toe brakes for my CH rudder pedals, as well as set up and use Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar and MFDs. Check ControllerMate out, if you haven't already.

Great game, great price. No joystick? No problem.

This was an impulse-buy based on price. I ignored suggestions/warnings that the game was only properly played with a real joystick, which I lack. I overlooked how in-depth the simulation was capable of being. And I found:

That this game is fabulous. Even using only my keyboard (albeit remapping the basic up-down-left-right to the cursor keys sans shift-alt modification and with numeric keypad) I have found the game to be enjoyable and deep. I probably would enjoy a joystick with it, but the difficult parts to learn have nothing to do with joystick control, and with a small amount of effort and time I am joyfully shooting down enemy MiGs. Repeat: It is playable without joystick. There's still much available to learn, but rather than learn every detail I have submerged myself in the sensational campaign feature and immersed myself in real-time war. It really is well-designed and engaging.

I have already gotten more out of this game than I expected, and I consider it a worthwhile buy even if you don't have every add-on that you think you might want.

Could be better...

New to a Mac I was shocked to find so few flight simulators available for this platform! Price is good…game is ok. Graphics are a C+. Gameplay is a solid B. Fun factor is about a B+. The only thing holding this game back from the A range is the updates and "glitches." My radar doesn't update properly unless I update it via testing. You cannot tell what gournd targets are what! Some radar guided missiles won't show up on RWR and next thing you know your POOF! gone. I truly believe the developers of the Mac version of this game simply wanted to say they were in the Mac business and left it at this. Lack of updates, lack of corrections for noticable errors, and lack of graphics are the downfalls of the Mac version. The graphics framrate *For obvious reasons* and fun factor keep this game alive on Mac. I have had several issues as well with the game crashing in the middle of missions causing great frustration. I e-mailed the Falcon 4.0 team several months ago but haven't recieved a response. Personally I would wait to purchase the game until some of these issues have been resolved and the Falcon 4.0 team (GraphSim Entertainment) want to take Mac users seriously.
