Freemium play gives plenty to do
Contrary to some reviews, you don't have to pay a realspace penny to enjoy this game. The events are complex enough that there is always plenty to do as freemium but also extras for those who want to pay some money. You have to just accept the fact that you can't do everything, for lack of time or realspace money. Plus there are opportunities to earn the premium currency (clams) rather than buying it with real money, so freemium players can still buy stuff occasionally. It took me a few days to figure out what was going on, since I hadn't played a town-building game before (the realistic ones bored me, this does not), so don't give up too soon. The animations for some of the character tasks are fun to watch again and again. Everything is based on characters and events happening on the Family Guy show, but they do take the bits and pieces to new levels. If you enjoy the show, give it a try. (Not for children....)
Waste of Space Now
Once upon a time this was fun but in the last few months the tasks have become nigh impossible to complete in the time frames they are requiring without spending clams (which is your hard earned money). I just barely unlocked James Woods before he expired and I had no hope of unlocking Carl before his timer expired. They have you doing quests to get rewards to buy keys to unlock buildings that drop things you have to have to unlock these characters- that you have to have to unlock something else, go figure! And the drop rates go from non existent to ungodly when you suddenly don't need a particular item anymore. You have like 24 hours to collect 15 Suchandsuch Items and only one of your characters can get that item as a reward and it takes him 4 hours to complete whatever task rewards that item. Just impossible. It's all a ploy to get you to spend money to speed up the tasks. And even then there's no guarantee Suchandsuch item will drop. Don't bother with this game unless you plan on dropping a lot of real money into. Stay far away!!'
When I first got the app, it was fun. I thought it was cool having your favorite family guy characters in game where you have to rebuild the city. I just have many complaints about the game though. Firstly you will most likely spend money. If you have the patience the you can have fun with this app, but if you don't then you might not have fun. My biggest complaint is the constant theme updates. At first the themes were cool and I wanted to get the special items and characters. But they are impossible to get. As I progressed through the game, the themes were just annoying, I liked it when it was the original. The themes last about a month, then you have a couple days of no theme, then you have a completely new theme that is just bothersome. Overall the concept for the app was a good idea, but they made the app not as good as it could've been with the constant updates and overpriced items and characters in the game.
