8ball is a pick-up-and-play take on the well-known and loved game of eight-ball pool (known to some as 'stripes and solids'). There are 15 balls on the table - 7 solid coloured, 7 striped and the black eight-ball. Sink your half of the balls and then the eight-ball before your opponent to win!
8ball includes a global, cross platform high-score list that allows you to
share your top scores and compete for the highest score possible against other players from all over the world - regardless of which device or platform they play the game on.
Rules often erroneous
I enjoy this game better than the one I was replacing it with, BUT, and this is a big but, the basic rules of 8 Ball are not followed.
And not just one error, a few of them actually! And while the rules apply to both sides, it doesn't make them fair! I otherwise might give another star.
Another dilemma for me is that it isn't really very cutting edge in graphics, and it isn't very well thought out on the controls.
Deciding to go with buttons rather than touching the cue or the cue ball itself to control them seems like a design mistake to me. This is especially frustrating trying to control the angle of shot, so that when you need a very fine change in direction, because of the method and design utilized, you are using buttons for clockwise and counter clockwise, it goes too far that way then too far the other, and it would be so much better to be able to move the actual cue around in a circle yourself, rather than the arrow buttons which are too sensitive to have your shot be finely tuned. You need to be able to make very slight changes in the angle for pool especially!
Having said all that, it is a cute little simple game that, as long as you are not expecting much, or don't care about the rules, can help pass time with a modicum of amusement.
