The award-winning short film is now an interactive narrative experience. William Joyce's "The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore", blurs the line between picture books and animated film.
Inspired, in equal measures, by Hurricane Katrina, Buster Keaton, The Wizard of Oz, and a love for books, “Morris Lessmore” is a story of people who devote their lives to books and books who return the favor. Morris Lessmore is a poignant, humorous allegory about the curative powers of story. Using a variety of techniques (miniatures, computer animation, 2D animation) award winning author/ illustrator William Joyce and Co-director Brandon Oldenburg present a new narrative experience that harkens back to silent films and M-G-M Technicolor musicals. “Morris Lessmore” is old fashioned and cutting edge at the same time.

Love this app? We would love it if you left us a review!
Absolutely beautiful in every way.
I bought this app 3 or 4 years ago, for my then-4- or 3-year-old grandchildren. They were fascinated by it and loved it. Now 7 years old, one of them played it again last week. It’s graphically and auditorily beautiful, the story line is wonderful— and actually very touching— and it's all aimed at instilling a love of reading and an appreciation of the wonders it may offer.
I cannot recommend The Fantastic Flying Books more highly. I’ve yet to see anything else like it. Get it!
(While you’re at it, get Moonbot’s "The Numberlys" too. It’s different, it’s clever, it’s fun, it’s also 5-star. The kids played it even more often than "The Fantastic Flying Books." Disclaimer: I have absolutely no connection with Moonbot. Simply bought their apps.)
The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris...
My son and I got this book/app when it first came out. He is 8 now and we still read it together. It is a wonderful story with fabulous graphics, I will always cherish this story as It has given me priceless memories and time well spent with my son. It really is a fabulous book.
I have had this app for several years with no problems. Suddenly, when trying to read it with my grandchildren last month, I could no longer access the "short video" of this wonderful book. The site said I did not have permission to access it via Vimeo. I have sent in a request to the developers (two, in fact!) but have not received a reply. Very disappointed! Note: it now works on my iPad 2 but no longer on my newer iPad Air?!?
