A mixed bag
Sometimes it IS really, really fast! Other times (sometimes on the very next page I try to load!) it seems slower than the "behemoth browsers." Sometimes it crashes a LOT, like every 5-15 minutes when I'm trying to write a comment or a help request.
It seems to leak about half as much memory as Chrome and about a third as much as Safari; definitely an improvement when I'm concurrently using other memory-munching apps, but I guess I expected a bigger difference in return for sacrificing features I use a lot, such as “Find” (I couldn't get it to work either).
I bought this fully knowing this was likely going to be something silly. This browser isn’t really a “browser”. It’s little more than a WKWebView / UIWebView with an address bar. it’s buggy, and it offers no functionality that Safari doesn’t already have. It’s not really any more “lightweight” than Safari since it basically is Safari with a custom window.
- The address bar doesn’t update when you navigate, so you have no idea what URL you are on.
- If the browser encounters an HTTPS error like a hostname mismatch, it silently fails and doesn’t display a warning. This is at least better than silently continuing.
- For whatever reason the “Close” button is disabled.
- Trying to print anything causes the browser to freeze and display a popup saying “This application is not allowed to print”.
Great, Fast Browser
This is an awesome and incredibly useful app, but I think we need just a few more features; tabs, more windows, and zoom. Otherwise, I love this web browser! 👍
