Phone ‘help’ terrible but in branch help was excellent

I needed to add my second last (given) name to my account to link my bank account and the woman at the help desk on the phone told me I could not update my name online and had to go to a branch to do it. She gave me some ridiculous explanation that made no sense, saying that its possible to update your married name online but not your given name. This was very annoying, and I later found out incorrect. When I went to the branch the woman there was very helpful and informed me that it’s actually slower to update it at the branch than online, making the inconvenience of having to go to the branch not only unnecessary, but detrimental to my goal of making a 2017 contribution before April 17. Luckily, the lady at the branch was extremely helpful and expedited my name update and then followed up with me when it went through in a couple hours. Please train your help phone staff as well as your in branch staff.

Modern look and feel but still lacks critical elements

So I just tried the new interface of the new and improved app and here is my scoop on it.
The good-the interface looks, feels nice and modern, definitely a departure from the old app. Most of the functions are the same.
The bad:
I use fidelity for my brokerage accounts and CMA for my cash management. I have a few Huge complaints that need to be addressed ASAP
1) bill pay-very primitive and takes way too long to post to the account. There is a portion of the day on the day after the payment is initiated (on standard 1-2 day bill pays)where the payment simply vanishes from account. It's not in pending nor is it in posted. I have panicked once and made the payment again during this period, only to realize my original payment posted the next day. I like the chase model the best for Bill pays, the second you initiate the bill pay, the second it should come out of your available balance. Period.
Also, the bill pays that have the check sent manually, do not post to the account until the item is cashed by the receiving party. Terrible when trying to balance your account.

Also, I would like to see images of items such as checks in the app as well as checks deposited via mobile deposit.

Last, when I make a mobile deposit into my CMA account, the funds take 5 business days to clear. Who waits 5 business days to clear anything these days.
Until these are fixed, this app gets 2 stars only.

Needs Lots of Work


The app has deteriorated in the last year and they are still trying to load too much via the mobile application. Instead of force feeding content that many may not care about, why don't you make the user/customer responsible for the content that he/she prefers? Let me decide what I want to see. Not 100%, but right now I have little control over content. UPDATE: Seems many of the app updates make the app crash and you're unceremoniously ejected in the middle of your work. This has been an ongoing problem for over a year now. In addition, the high/low line information is missing for all REIT securities. This problem is almost 2 years old, yet nothing has been done to fix it. Is it time to move my money to a broker whose mobile app isn't so twitchy?
Update-June 7, 2018. Downgraded to one star but would rate ZERO if available. After so many complaints like mine by others, Fidelity continues to ignore them and the iOS app gets worse, prompting me to write a complaint to the CEO, Abby Johnson. Moving $$ to another broker with continued apathy on Fidelitys part.
