Description

Fiery Feeds is a feed reader built for power users.

- Smart Views -
Fiery Feeds finds the most linked to websites in your articles, to give you the most important news at a glance.
The Low and High Frequency folders shows articles from feeds that only post rarely or particularly often.
The Must Read folder is a specially highlighted folder, where you can put the most important feeds.
The Today folder only shows articles published today
The Long and Short Articles folders filter articles by length.

- Article View Modes -
Fiery Feeds can automatically extract the full article text or display the website instead of the truncated article text. The selected mode is remembered by feed and the full text can even be downloaded for offline viewing.

- Sync -
Fiery Feeds syncs with Feedly, Feedbin, Feed Wrangler, Fever, NewsBlur, Tiny Tiny RSS, Inoreader, Bazqux, FreshRSS and The Old Reader.
Additionally it syncs with the read-it-later services Pinboard, Pocket, Instapaper and Wallabag.

- Sharing -
Included sharing services are Pinboard, Instapaper, Pocket, Delicious, Evernote, SendToReader, Buffer, OneNote, Copy URL, Messages, Safari Reading List, Copy Image, 1Password, Star Article, Twitter, Facebook.
Fiery also supports sharing to other apps and websites using URL schemes that you can create yourself or install from the action directory and customisable email templates.

- Feed Managment -
You can subscribe to new feeds, unsubscribe, move or rename them. You can add new folders, delete, move or rename them. You can even group your folders.

- Safari Extension -
You can subscribe to new feeds straight from Safari with the included extension.

- Auto Dark Theme -
You can select a bright and a dark theme, and Fiery Feeds will automatically switch between them, based on the display brightness.

- Folder Groups -
You can group multiple folders into folder groups.

- Modern App -
Fiery Feeds supports everything you'd expect from a modern iOS app: 3D Touch, Peek and Pop previews, Drag and Drop from the article list, Haptic Feedback and Hand Off to other devices.

- Today Widget -
Fiery Feeds includes a Today Widget that displays the newest articles across all services, including preview images.

- Keyboard Shortcuts -
Fiery Feeds fully supports external keyboards and keyboard shortcuts. You can navigate the entire app using only the keyboard if you want to.

- VoiceOver -
Every feature is accessible via VoiceOver.

- Customisable -
Almost every aspect of Fiery Feeds is customisable. Color Themes, Fonts, Text sizes. If you want a leisurely reading environment, just the headlines, or anything in between, Fiery Feeds has you covered.

- Horizontal article swiping -
You can swipe to the next or previous article by swiping horizontally, instead of vertically. This avoids having to scroll down the entire (long) article just to get to the next one.

- Marking All Read -
Fiery Feeds can mark all articles read by the time the article was published. It’s possible to mark all articles as read, or all articles that are older then a day, week or month.
Additionally it’s possible to mark all articles above or below a specific article as read by swiping right on an article to show more options.
It is also possible to mark articles as read automatically when scrolling by then in the article list.

- Fiery Feeds Premium -
A subscription to Fiery Feeds Premium is to use feed management, text extraction, custom URL actions and email templates, Smart Views, custom themes and to select an alternative app icon.

Fiery Feeds Premium is available for 12 months for $9.99. Fiery Feeds Premium automatically renews, unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the date of renewal. Apple does not currently allow cancellations of the current subscription period. The auto renewal can be turned off in the App Store account settings.

Review edited!

Original review: Please include an option to disable "updating hotlinks"! It takes FOREVER for my Feedly subscription and it's a premium feature that I don't even use. Rest of app is fairly good although the parallax effect on the article list images is a little disconcerting when scrolling.

Edits: After the author responded to let me know how to sort out the two abovementioned issues, the app is now very quick to start, article list scrolling looks better (to me, anyway) and I have added another star to the review. Updating cached images could be a bit faster though, maybe multithread the retrieval? Anyway. Great program, enjoying it so far. I'll hold back the last star due to the subscription model - this sort of thing is stupid for a feed reader, or a text editor or pretty much 90% of other apps. Make it a one-time payment to get premium and you might get that one last star. (I don't care what Apple "encourages" app authors to do - Apple has wayyyy enough money right now.)

Developer Response ,

You can disable the Hotlinks folder in the account settings. Fiery Feeds will skip the Updating Hotlinks phase if the folder is hidden.

There is also a (semi-public) Expert Settings screen. You can open it by tapping and holding the settings icon. There you can find an option to disable the parallax scrolling.

Most responsive developer I've worked with + best RSS app

I am deeply enjoying reading my feeds with Fiery. This is not just because of the excellent design, or the frequent updates, but also, crucially, because of how responsive the developer is. Several times I've sent mails and gotten a response within a day or less. If you manage a lot of feeds, you will want to look at Fiery. I've requested obscure features that have made their way into a release a week or two later, and this present release adds some features I'd not even gotten round to requesting yet.

This is how you do software. Thank you for being such a wonderful example of how it's done.

But I’m starting over from scratch

I was hoping to start over with RSS feed readers, since I have not had a feed reader since my Google Reader days. I have no feed accounts anywhere. Not with Feedly or any other of the newer RSS feed readers. Therefore, I was entirely unable to sign in. I’m glad I didn’t just jump right in and buy a premium account that I would’ve been unable to use.

Your product seems to have no use cases for a person who is entirely new to RSS feed readers. This is not the way to attract new people to your product.

I would be thrilled to try your product again if you add some way of authenticating outside of some other feed reader service. I would even be willing to sign in via Google. Please provide this basic functionality and I would be delighted to revise this review. Oh, and my husband, a Feedly subscriber, would also be delighted to try your product.

Developer Response ,

Sorry to hear Fiery Feeds doesn't support your use case. You need to login using a feed reader service, since a lot of the work like downloading and parsing the actual feeds happens on the services' servers. If that weren't the case, they would be no need to login at all. And of course, because the service is used to sync read states and subscribed feeds between multiple devices. That means that a sign-in via Google or other non-feed services is technically not viable.

Using Fiery Feeds without a service is on my roadmap, but it's going to take a while, since I have to implement a lot of functionality myself to make it work.
