It is also possible to mark articles as read automatically when scrolling by then in the article list.

Review edited!

Original review: Please include an option to disable "updating hotlinks"! It takes FOREVER for my Feedly subscription and it's a premium feature that I don't even use. Rest of app is fairly good although the parallax effect on the article list images is a little disconcerting when scrolling.

Edits: After the author responded to let me know how to sort out the two abovementioned issues, the app is now very quick to start, article list scrolling looks better (to me, anyway) and I have added another star to the review. Updating cached images could be a bit faster though, maybe multithread the retrieval? Anyway. Great program, enjoying it so far. I'll hold back the last star due to the subscription model - this sort of thing is stupid for a feed reader, or a text editor or pretty much 90% of other apps. Make it a one-time payment to get premium and you might get that one last star. (I don't care what Apple "encourages" app authors to do - Apple has wayyyy enough money right now.)

Developer Response

You can disable the Hotlinks folder in the account settings. Fiery Feeds will skip the Updating Hotlinks phase if the folder is hidden.

There is also a (semi-public) Expert Settings screen. You can open it by tapping and holding the settings icon. There you can find an option to disable the parallax scrolling.

Dethroned Reeder for BEST RSS reader for iOS

I have been monitoring this app looking for a replacement for the aging Reeder 3 app for some time. For those who don’t know Reeder’s doesn’t care about user input; with fiery feeds, it’s quite the opposite.
Lucas is hands-down the most responsive developer I have ever seen. Every single bug report, feature request, things I don’t like about the app have been thoroughly vetted through him and I would say roughly 80% of it has been addressed. The guy response literally within 8 to 12 hours every single time. The bugs I had reported would be fixed for the next version 2.12). This impressed me to the point to Subscribe to the app. I never in 1 million years thought I would be paying $10 a year for an RSS reader, but for an app that’s so important and so integrate into my life it’s worth it for me.

At this point one of the only things left is it just sure to switch between RSS mode, Full text extraction load, and browser mode. I sincerely hope that Lucas takes my advice and implement something especially with the new iPhones coming as their screens are bigger it’s hard to scroll up all the way to the top even with readability.

If you want the best, this is it. The free version works great and includes every feature I wanted except the full text extraction.

Bravo Lucas, bravo

Most responsive developer I've worked with + best RSS app

I am deeply enjoying reading my feeds with Fiery. This is not just because of the excellent design, or the frequent updates, but also, crucially, because of how responsive the developer is. Several times I've sent mails and gotten a response within a day or less. If you manage a lot of feeds, you will want to look at Fiery. I've requested obscure features that have made their way into a release a week or two later, and this present release adds some features I'd not even gotten round to requesting yet.

This is how you do software. Thank you for being such a wonderful example of how it's done.
