Ratings and Reviews
This app is hands down the app I recommend to players. I use it a lot for my Adventure League and for creating ally NPCs for my campaign.
The app only comes with the SRD information but with a google search for "fight club compendium" you can find community compendiums to get all the info.
This is much faster and accurate compared to WotC online compendium which is slow because it relies on internet. If WotC was smart they would buy Lion's Den for their tech.
Back to the review. It is definitely worth the money to upgrade as the free version only allows limited characters and limited items. It automatically calculates +/- when you choose which items you want have equipped (thanks to the suplemental compendiums).
The best feature is easy access to spell list. You can access each spell quickly for your character, no longer having to spend so much time looking up a spell in a book or sorting through many many spell cards.
In the past I wrote about the interface being cramped, but they have fixed the typography and spacing allowing the interface to flow a lot better (great job Lion’s Den)
A feature I would love is split/multitask capabilities. This would make it easier to use with Game Master 5e and other tools at the same time.
Also the last update has issues exporting the character sheets to PDF as the text no longer fits in the text boxes. Would love to see that fixed.
Overall this is a wonderful app and I love it, however i feel that there are little things that could use some fixing. For example, the Druid's wild shape is difficult to operate because there is no built in function for it. What I have been doing is using the base animals and modifying it to fit my character then placing it in the companion section and labeling it as such: (player name)-(animal name)
This is very doable, but also very tedious. It would be nice to have a less tedious option. Also, a similar problem is stuff like the eldritch invocations, or the wild Magic table from the sorcerers.
And finally, my biggest problem with the app is the option of choice. When a race gives you a language and then a bonus language of your choice, it will tell you that, but won't let you choose your second language. You will have to go in and write down what language you want manually, which is also tedious. Same goes for weapon proficiencies, armor proficiencies, and tool proficiencies. It seems that the whole proficiencies section of the character sheet was left out of this app, when it would help a lot to have it.
Also side note: the AC auto calculator is handy, but it really needs a section where you can override the default calculator for your own, or just change it manually.
Otherwise I love the app, and will continue to sing it's praises to my friends.
The perfect app to calculate everything
This app is exactly what I’ve been looking for to create my D&D 5e characters. As a techie I prefer to do everything on my devices and this app allows me to have a fully fleshed out character sheet with all the appropriate stats and abilities perfectly outlined in an easy and understandable manner.
The only downside to this app is there’s a big learning curve to using the app. It’s hard to understand that a lot of the abilities you get like jack of all trades requires you to modify the feature in order for the app to actually use it in its calculations. But honestly this makes sense due to the large learning curve that is required for any table top rpg. I absolutely love this app and any issues I have with it often are resolved by the developers and are consistently making the app even better!
