MAC OS X LIMITATIONS ON FILE DATES
Please note that Mac OS X imposes a number of "common sense" rules when it comes to file dates and will not allow you to set dates to "invalid" values.
In particular, you cannot set the dates to future values (i.e. later than now) and files cannot be modified before they are created. File Date Changer 5 can automatically take care of these complications for you via the "automatically correct inconsistent dates" feature.
Also note that while File Date Changer will let you set dates before 1972, the Mac OS X Finder does not "like" such dates and as soon as you point the Finder to such a file, it will "correct" this date to the 1st of January 1972.
Photo Date Changer is available exclusively on the Mac App Store.
- updated user experience for macOS Sierra
- preview pane showing preview of images and relevant meta-data
Ratings and Reviews
Much better than Terminal
Much better than terminal for changing dates. Touch command isn’t nearly as user friendly or as powerful as this application. Works great for me.
Pretty useless and way to pricey (no date added)
Wish this could change date added… Add it, and I’ll change my review.
Ever since FCP X came out, I've been recording audio seperately from video, I rely heavily on Date Creation data on all files to easily organize and synchronize audio and video files automatically. However, I didn't know that when my audio recorder batteries die, its internal clock resets and somehow resets creation date for all saved files. Luckily, it does save the "Modified date". But FCP X does'nt have the sort column for Dates modified, only Creation Date.
This meant that I would need to find the matching audio file to the video file by listening and watching, as oppose to seeing audio files already next to video files and I'm talking about over 200 video clips and 200 audio files.
I'm so glad I found this app! I was able to match creation date using the date modified, all in a single batch and and about 2 clicks , problems fixed!!!
i'm no longer using a slate or "clapper" to sync audio / video, its essential to keep all clocks in all devices syncronized. In another instance, one of my devices was off by about 3 minutes, theres an option in this App to add 3 minutes in all files that were created in that device! again, as a batch and 2 clicks and input time adjustment, done. Thanks Frank Rieff for developing this!!!
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
