FileBrowser - Access files on remote computers
By Stratospherix Ltd
Open iTunes to buy and download apps.
FileBrowser is the original and best file manager and viewer for iOS. FileBrowser can view, copy, move, upload, download, stream, and manage files between computers, servers, NAS drives and cloud storage in any direction. You don’t need to install any other software. FileBrowser will scan and locate computers on your network and connect in seconds and will connect to cloud storage quickly too.
We’ve optimised FileBrowser so that it browses network folders faster than Windows Explorer or Mac Finder and our users agree!

Works Great, Bewlidering UI
FB does pretty much all it claims to do, robustly and well. The reason it loses 5 stars to me is the really poor UI design. I realize getting this much functionality packed into an iPad or iPhone interface is hard, but sometimes it’s just bewildering. I’ve ended up in dead-ends in the I cant get out of (a “Bookmarks” screen with ALL the menu options grayed out and no way to exit???).
Moving files from a server to local storage for offline viewing etc is also FAR harder than it should be, needing many steps (browse to the source .. click Copy .. browse back step by step to the top folder, browse to the destination, click a menu .. click Paste). Why not just have a default “Inbox” local folder and a “Copy to Inbox” command?
On the plus side, FB cna browse for local servers while GoodReader and Documents require manual entry of server details, so it gets good marks for this. If the UI were better FB would be my ideal doc reader.
Very nice app, but….
This app is EXACTLY what I was looking for. I wanted an app that would be able to connect to all of my media on my Airport Time Capsule and stream over wifi. I was surprised to find that this was one of the apps that could do just that. Others require you to download to the iPhone or open on another app like dropbox. Imagine my surprise when I was able to connect to the Time Capsule and open almost every file type. The only drawback, and they mentioned it at the very end of the description, is that it does support .avi playback. Include that as a feature, and your app would be the one to beat!
Must have app.
I've been looking for a simple app that does that I want it to. Let me access and listen to music that is stored over a shared drive, with real audio player. Cloudbeats doesn't have this and Goodreader requires a file download before actually listening to it. The only reason it gets 4 stars is the UI. There is a very simple feature missing. When you open an audio file, there is no back button. So you have to go back to the main root of the shared drive or your bookmark of your personal music folder if you want to search for more songs to play.
