Exactly what I was looking for!
I recently spent HOURS downloading and trying out a lot of different file renaming programs, including some that were highly rated (i.e The Best Finder Renamer, or whatever it is called), and none of them worked for me. I wanted a program that would easily allow me to rename files by removing the original name. After much frustration, I finally found what i was looking for in FileWrangler!
Not only does it easily remove the original name, it lets me rename files ANY way I want. I can do the creation date, then sequence, then text. Or, if I'd rather have the sequence numbers at the end, all I have to do is drag-and-drop that option to the end. Simple as that. Don't want the sequence numbers (or anything else I'm currently using)? Just delete that option.
Did I make a mistake in renaming the files? All I have to do is undo the changes and they are instantly reversed.
This program works beautifully and flawlessly! I can't recommend it enough. I have just finished renaming about 10 years worth of photo files, and this program helped me do it quickly. Thank you so much for creating this software!!
Powerful but easy to use
I upgraded from ver 1.2 and what an improvement in flexibility for changing file names and limiting the files in a folder to which the changes are applied. The filters enable me to rename just some of the files in a folder, I no longer have to move files out of the folder or carefully click-select the files to which I want to apply the changes. The renaming function has the building blocks to rename files however I need. I position the blocks how I want to construct or remove characters. Then I can save multiple of my rename sequences for future use, no thinking just open the saved config.
Love it. Thanx for the tool!
Very functional and well priced File renamer
I tried a number of different file rename programs on the App store and a few fell short and some were way too expensive. Filewrangler comes in as well priced and very fexible. It feels like a Mac app and is very fexible for your renaming tasks. I like the built-in Quicklook function and the ability to save my "builder" sets so I can execute my previous settintgs. It also comes with an instruction manual -- something rare with apps these days.
I only gave it four stars because I wish it had EXIF support for photos( I need to embed the shoot date). Otherwise I would highly recommend this app.
