Initially released in Japan in 1987, the original FINAL FANTASY amazed audiences with its rich story and stunning graphics.
Players guide the Warriors of Light as they set out on a quest to restore the crystals to their former luster. Its side-view battles, choice and promotion of character classes, and sprawling world explored with fantastic vehicles quickly became standards of the series. This game set the stage for all FINAL FANTASY games to come.
This release also contains the bonus dungeons added to later editions of the game--the Soul of Chaos and the Labyrinth of Time.

What's New in Version 1.1.1

The very first FF game I ever played was FF IV Advance about 10 plus yeas ago. That game took me on such a trippy nostalgia filled joyride, bringing me back to the late 90s when I would stay up many hours past my bedtime hiding in my closet to play Pokemon red and blue on my gameboy pocket. Since then I only played a few FF titles including FF X, Crystal Chronicles, and Tactics Advance. So I'm pretty much going back and starting from the beginning until I have every FF game on the App Store. That being said, the original FF is completely flawless in every way. I haven't experienced ANY of the problems other reviewers experienced. Aside from the end credits freezing (big deal). If you're around my age (25) then I'm sure this will send you strolling down memory lane as well. BUY IT!!!!‼️‼️‼️‼️
Controls OK for me
For folks who are complaining about the controls: You don't have to click your character. The D-pad shows up anytime you tap the left side of the screen. You can easily move more than one space just by keeping your finger down in the correct position. It's a little large, but all you have to do is lift your finger up for a second if it's in the way of something on the left side of the screen. I'm having no issues on an iPad Mini; maybe it is more visually intrusive on a phone?
Giving 4 stars for the game itself; controls are fine to me for this type of game.
Dpad is horrible...
When I first purchased this game, I played it chiefly on my itouch. The dead wasn't great, but it didn't detract from the game too much. I've recently tried playing this game again on an iPad mini thinking the larger screen would make this game even more enjoyable...how wrong I was! The new dpad icon is very intrusive on the world map and dungeons and, at times, require strange finger placement to see vital areas of the map like stairs or cave entrances. It's a shame that they would allow this dpad to ruin an otherwise fun game. I cannot recommend this game for purchased until the controls are fixed.
