Initially released in Japan in 1987, the original FINAL FANTASY amazed audiences with its rich story and stunning graphics.

Players guide the Warriors of Light as they set out on a quest to restore the crystals to their former luster. Its side-view battles, choice and promotion of character classes, and sprawling world explored with fantastic vehicles quickly became standards of the series. This game set the stage for all FINAL FANTASY games to come.

This release also contains the bonus dungeons added to later editions of the game--the Soul of Chaos and the Labyrinth of Time.

Honestly a good port

Very identical to the PSP dawn of souls port of the game. Very well done and seamless. In my play throughs have not experienced any glitches or game ruining experiences. It is final fantasy 1, the game that they made without any precedence and have since revolutionized the genre. For those who are expecting a streamlined gameplay where everything is made for the players convenience I'm afraid this isn't it. This game was made as a last ditch effort by Square, and as many last ditch efforts, it doesn't have that nice layer of polish we are used to. If you like RPGs with a polish I recommend final fantasy 4 or 6.

The added dungeons are a nice touch to those who enjoy a challenge. But one big issue I have with the game is that there isn't really a challenge. The original port was pretty difficult (granted you didn't do the peninsula of power). And this game isn't very challenging until you hit the bosses, in which the difficulty spikes absurdly.

4/5 would recommend to the hardcore final fantasy fans, casual players I would suggest take a stab at 3, 4, or 6. (2 is pretty bad and 5 has many qualities that this game has)

Great game

Wow, it downloaded in about 2 minutes. The sound is great on my pad. The graphics are very nice, just like I remember. The gameplay is highly doable. This is a touch screen version! C'mon people I've played about 2 minutes and I am already excited to revisit a fantastic game I played with my daughters on the nes. Seven bucks is change compared to dropping 20 bucks for about 3 days worth of town bucks in the last game I played until it got tedious and boring. Man, I have got to go back and play. I had to stop and write this. I live so far from town I have satellite net. It takes all night to download more complicated games that charge you every time you turn around. I love FF. I have only ever played this one through. I have another 9 or so FF games to look forward to. Wow I like this type of game. Square has always been a first class company. They didn't disappoint me on this game. I am 59 years old and I feel 25 again. Thanks for the app. I will be back for more when I beat this game again.

Nostalgic masterpiece

The very first FF game I ever played was FF IV Advance about 10 plus yeas ago. That game took me on such a trippy nostalgia filled joyride, bringing me back to the late 90s when I would stay up many hours past my bedtime hiding in my closet to play Pokemon red and blue on my gameboy pocket. Since then I only played a few FF titles including FF X, Crystal Chronicles, and Tactics Advance. So I'm pretty much going back and starting from the beginning until I have every FF game on the App Store. That being said, the original FF is completely flawless in every way. I haven't experienced ANY of the problems other reviewers experienced. Aside from the end credits freezing (big deal). If you're around my age (25) then I'm sure this will send you strolling down memory lane as well. BUY IT!!!!‼️‼️‼️‼️

Update: game still runs perfectly!!
