I use a TICKR, Wahoo Cadence and Speed sensors inertial and Blue SC on four road bikes. But also a RFLKT and RFLKT+. Everything is finally working and even though Cyclemeter is awesome, I prefer some of the features of this app regarding auto-scrolling and the layout of the pages. Been using my RFLKT devices for 2 plus years. The Wahoo app was very buggy. Not anymore as of the last update. Hate having to pay for Cyclemeter premium and now I don’t have too. Frankly it does more than I need. Learning curve to use the RFLKT is frustratingly complicated. No in depth guidance. Great device that was dropped because of bad reviews from the buggy software that is finally fixed. Best part of using my setup is never worrying about charging batteries. All use coin cells that last at least a year for me and I am a heavy user. Note devs: please add more data to device info in the app, especially battery status. Also it would be nice to have the utility app within this app. In a perfect world the Elemnt app would also be integrated and one app would work with all Wahoo devices.
App went down the Toilet
This had used to be fantastic. However, and recent updates, Wahoo began trying to track our whereabouts when the app is not on by request to ACCESS YOUR LOCATION ALWAYS. I opt to allow Wahoos to track my location ONLY WHEN USING THE APP (as the app needs our location to track runs and so on). Since I have this option elected, I get a horrible and frustrating reminder every time I use the app, stating, “I am not using the proper location services.”
There is no reason why any app should be able to track your location when you’re not using the app. Wahoo, I’m sure, has some BS and canned response and why it need to track your location when the app is NOT BEING USED.
In light of Facebook and other apps gathering your information and selling it to third parties, I will never allow an app to track my location when I’m not using it. Wahoo who should be ashamed of itself for requesting this. Uber, if you recall, went through a similar situation. In which users screamed so much that it removed the request to have location services on at all times.
This is disgraceful and makes me think that Wahoo maybe selling our information to third parties.
Where is the cumulative cycling odometer?
I've been using Wahoo standalone for a couple of years and the one feature it lacks is a cumulative odometer to serve as a proper computer. It would be a great feature to add a cumulative odometer or distance traveled by profile so it could be to track total distances for a specific activity or profile type. It could be used to track mileage by bike or running type, etc.
Another function that's missing that all other GPS cycling apps include is an altimeter. For work outs/trip it's great but as I've gotten into cyclocross an altimeter is becoming important. I have a RFLKT+ adds that feature but the total distance travelled is still crucial as part of overall bike maintenance. The RFLKT+ doesn't seem to enable additional functionality like an odometer. It only has a running 4 weeks worth of mileage. More of a fitness tracker than a true bike computer.
If this isn't the solution I will abandon Wahoo altogether and explore other options.
