What's New in Version 2.8.1
Unreliable of late
I have used Fitbit since December 2013 and always praised its effectiveness in promoting regular exercise and counting calories. It has its weaknesses but once I got used to it, it became impossible to not check my progress everyday. But recently, especially starting 2015, the updates have been extremely rocky. It had worked fine before but after an update there would be tone of problems. The biggest problem of late is its inability to sync which is annoying! Before, it was able to sync and give me my progress immediately as soon as I open the App but now it will sync at random times, couple of times a week. Because of its randomness, I cannot suss out what the problems is. Only way to know my progress now is to meet my step goal since the device will vibrate, but even then.. it won't sync. I just hope they can fix it as I am (or used to be?) a big fan of Fitbit.. It helped me lose weight so I'm grateful but unless it's fixed, this device is useless.
The app is ok but could be way better
No iPad support, it's nice to have this on my phone but I would love to also see some of the graphs on a larger screen like my iPad. I would love to see more options such as paddle boarding. The sleep mode is nice but seems pretty inaccurate. I know I get up up more times in the night and on more than a few occasions it will not register that time as awake. Finally there is no health app support. You have to pay for a third party app work around which I am not willing to do. Based on reviews for that app you can see a lot of doubled up steps and still need to create additional workarounds to increase the accuracy. This makes it so you have to manage health data in two areas. With some simple feature enhancements this could easily be a great companion app. Please add more activities!!!! Needs paddle boarding!!
App needs improvement
I absolutely love my Fitbit, but the app needs to get on the level of its competitors. The calorie tracking part is subpar, the meal options are really limited and makes it hard for me to accurately input my calorie intake. I constantly have to go back to myfitnesspal and look up an item then take the dietary information and input it into the calorie tracker. I would just track my calories in myfitnesspal but I want to keep everything in one place. The sleep tracker needs some work too. I expected that it would go more in depth like all other sleep monitoring apps. It just tells you when you're restless and awake, and doesn't track when you're in REM or not. I'm disappointed that I still have to use a handful of apps when I was expecting to replace them all with the Fitbit app.
