Florence is an interactive storybook from the award-winning lead designer of Monument Valley about the heart-racing highs and heartbreaking lows of a young woman's very first love.

Florence Yeoh feels a little... stuck. Her life is an endless routine of work, sleep, and spending too much time on social media. Then one day, she meets a cello player named Krish who changes everything about how she sees the world and herself.

Experience every beat of Florence and Krish's relationship through a series of mini-game vignettes - from flirting to fighting, from helping each other grow... to growing apart. Drawing inspiration from 'slice of life' graphic novels and webcomics, Florence is an intimate and unforgettable story.

Editors’ Choice

There is a subtle beauty to Florence. This poignant love story intertwines a succinct narrative with smart interaction design to create moments of surprising emotional weight. Conversations are turned into puzzles that evolve as the characters’ moods shift. Memories fade into focus like old Polaroid photos. The way you touch the screen becomes just as important as the plot, which makes for a story you want to steer as well as follow. Florence fosters a rare sense of intimacy with its characters, creating an impression that lingers long after the story ends.

Very Lovely, but...

Let me just say I really like the graphics, the music... however it is very short, and could have been so much more. I understand why people like it but real life is depressing enough. The game didn’t have enough puzzles or content. If it is expanded, I would consider a higher rating. It was just way too easy and too depressing for me. I was left feeling disappointed, empty, and as if I wasted my time. Could have just watch someone else play it with about the same feeling and opinion overall, it just didn’t pull me in. I guess I am just not that sappy, real life is more interesting and a game, or book, not sure what it wants to be, should be a fun escape. I just found it to be pretty but boring, shallow. It was just way over hyped and overrated in my opinion. I need more depth, immersion, adventure, and excitement from my games... or books... not sure... sorry. I get the artistic appeal but a lot of games are beautiful, with great music, art, but still so so so much more. It would have been a better graphic novel for tweens, teens, young adults... a lovely little collectors item (although I think most teens are more advanced). For me personally... it was more of a “depression simulator.”

Florence is life

Right off the bat, Florence captivated me with its art style and somber music. The story is nothing new, but Annapurna Interactive manages to mesh in the right music, character development, and pacing to create a compelling and believable story.

I imagine there will be lots of people who will identify with Florence- those who have been working meaningless full time jobs that make them feel hollow and unfulfilled. To those, Florence speaks that it is worth taking a step back to consider pursuing your dreams and passions- it is never too late.

To those expecting a happily ever after ending, Florence affirms our understanding that despite our best wishes and intents, life doesn’t always go the way that we want it too. People come into our lives, and sometimes they go. But Florence teaches us to not let those experiences tear us down. In having new people come into our lives, we learn new things about them and about ourselves. Meeting new people is an essential part of self discovery that allows us to harness what we learn about ourselves and use that knowledge to shape a happier and better future.
