Good but needs polishing
Great functional prowess - I really enjoy using the app for periods of study and concentration. However, the app is buggy and could use a little work.
First the app has a poor look and feel. It has not been updated for the new iPhone 6/6+ size despite the new phones being released 6 months ago, and the design in my opinion is rather poor. Secondly the app will occasionally "fail to load" which means you cannot access any audio. I have no idea why this occurs so frequently - usually requires you to force restart the app a few times, even on wifi where the connection is rather good. Finally I would suggest tweaking the productivity factor tracking. This is largely a user input process, but the options are in quartiles and sometimes I am feeling between 75% and 100% focused. I would suggest perhaps seeing how many times the user switches out of the app (answering texts, browsing the web) for a true measure of productivity.
Those criticisms aside, this is a nice (albeit expensive) app to have. The existing competition is limited.
Truly THE Best
Focus at will is about the best app I've ever downloaded. It's always worked and the company is incredibly responsive on social media.
I started using this app on the recommendation of a friend while writing my thesis. It helped me focus on my writing so well there would be extended periods where I forgot music was playing and was completely able to concentrate on my writing. That's no less than magical. I've bought many apps that I seldom end up using. This is not them. This app is THE bet app I've ever downloaded. Inexpensive and yet such a productivity boost.
Does not work on me
I have had the service for a few months and I've tried many different settings, all different levels and all different types of sounds.. It makes absolutely no difference in terms of my concentration & is actually quite distracting and makes it harder to do work.. I'm not sure what all the reviews are talking about. Also, the company will not refund the money and locks you into a one year expensive contract after the 30 day... Even if you are not happy & get zero benefit from the product. They also have automatic renewal and continue to charge your credit card or iTunes account. I highly recommend to stay away and just order a CD if you're looking for this type of product (or have a cup of coffee).
