Its an old app but still works in Ventura but with caveats
Does not handle changing the icons of shortcuts to folders well, and there are sync issues in general the interface is clunky, but hey, it works and the end results are nice. and it's 3 bucks.
Easiest App I've Ever Used!
Here's the missing instructions that you're complaining about (that aren't really missing. A plain blue folder will appear in the window. To change the color, click on the box that says color and select a new color just like in any other app. Next click on "Apply" to APPLY that color to an EXISTING folder. This app does not create new folders for you. You must first create a new folder and then APPLY the new color or design to it. It took me about ten seconds to figure that out, but I could have just clicked on the help menu and read the instruction that were included.
Did exactly what I wanted in 5 seconds
I’m on a Mac running High Sierra. I downloaded the app, opened it, and was able to choose a folder color from the color wheel. When I clicked APPLY, the app showed me all the files in my Documents folder. I simply chose the ones whose color I wanted changed, and they all changed. It was far easier than the usual <get info-copy-paste> mess around in Preview. There is a Help menu with a simple PDF tutorial under it. Though I just wanted some new colors for my various projects, I’ll soon mess around with the other features of the app. For me, the $3 is completely worth it.
