MACWORLD GEM - End the chaos of your unorganized files.
Organize any folder with tons of built-in rules or create powerful custom ones. Folder Tidy uses all available CPUs for the fastest tidy possible and can handle GBs or even TBs of files.
With one click Folder Tidy will sort the files from the messy folder into the appropriate sub folders (Pictures, Word Documents, Numbers, Archives, etc).
Need a little more control? Open up the preferences, change the order of the built-in rules, or start to make custom rules. Use the powerful predicate editor to make pretty much any rule you'd like. For example, create a rule to move all photos with a size bigger than 5MB and older than a year into a folder.
Check out some of the awesome features:
• Organize your files into subfolders based on the file type and/or rules.
• Use one of the many built-in rules, or create powerful ones based on predicates.
• Choose what types of files to clean up.
• Choose files and folders to ignore during a clean up.
• Choose where to put the cleaned up files and folders.
• Options to ignore aliases, folders and anything with a label.
• Ability to undo the clean up.
• Over 600 five star ratings internationally.

[New] macOS 10.14 (Mojave) support including for the new system wide Dark Mode.
[New] Massive speed improvement when the app is sorting through the files. We've reworked the engine that finds and sorts through the files to be smarter and also take advantage of multicore CPUs. These changes decrease the time to finish a tidy by 500 to 1000%. Sorting through 90,000 files in folders and subfolders used to take 2 minutes & 6 seconds on a test Mac. Now it takes around 10 seconds.
[New] The in-progress window now shows the current rule that is being processed.
[New] Any errors related to moving files are no longer shown as modal alerts during the tidy. They are now available in a popover by clicking the warning icon that appears in the finished window.
[New] Undoing a tidy is now substantially faster.
[Fixed] Issue where it was possible for the app to run out of memory when sorting through TBs of files.

Incredibly useful and fast
I use this app to keep my Desktop and unruly Downloads folder neat and organized. If you consider how much you’ll use this app over time fight back the chaos in your digital life, it’s well worth the price of admission.

Thanks for the nice review and we're super happy to hear you are enjoying Folder Tidy!
Not any more useful than viewing a folder and sorting by type. Waste of $9.99 unfortunately. I thought it had more options than it did, but I couldn’t get a good sense of what was possible until I downloaded it. Unfortunately, not much is possible. I wish I could get a refund.

We're truly sorry you didn't enjoy Folder Tidy. There are many different options available in the preferences along with the built-in rules for sorting files by type, along with the powerful custom rules where you can setup some pretty complex patterns (ex: put photos over 5MB that are from today into a specific folder). If you'd like a refund, you can certainly request one from Apple since they do not give us any customer order info.
2 Stars. 5 if an update puts everything where it belongs
If you used to be neat and "life" has changed that a couple of bucks to save 20-30 minutes sorting out your desktop may be worth it. But be aware it will only sort out the files (mostly) into labeled subfolders within 1 main folder like the picture on the ad. It won't put them where they actually belong… in your documents folder> pictures, movies or music. And if you use it for work, well plan on those client documents to be all mixed together and leaving those pdfs still sitting on the desktop.
It's like having Mom else sort and fold your socks from out of the dryer only to put them into the clothes basket. Eventually she'd tell you to put them away in your drawer before going out to play. So while having Mom back to do my laundry and match my socks sounds nice it really only postpones the inevitable anyway. It also seems the sock gnome lives here too because some files are left on the desktop and documents get lumped all together like the pile of mix-matched socks we all prayed would match the lone ones in the draw.
Now at $1.99, and a prayer-soon a FREE update could put everything in its final destination and have with the ability choose multiple folders for each type of document. Rather than paying higher for a full featured version.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
