Used to be good
Used to work great. In the last 3-4 months I got 0 notifications for my shows.
Great app suffering from back-burner-itis
Glad they updated to get rid of the performance nagware. In the wake of the update, your new treatment for watched shows creates a lot more visual hierarchy and makes unwatched programs pop, but it also makes it much harder to read the watched show tiles. Was there another treatment that didn't make them so much harder to read?
Also in the wake of the update, there are a set of shows that are no longer downloading artwork in the calendar view. So far as I can see, these are all below the fold. There is no case of a show not getting a tile above the fold. Here are some examples:
Before the update it was possible to touch anywhere outside the Episode Info dialog and it would be interpreted as a close action. After the update the only way to close is by selecting the close button. Given the button's top left placement, and the predominance of people holding their iPad device in their left hand, it makes requiring a close select as the only way to move forward puzzling and aggravating. Please consider reverting to the old behavior and accept a touch action anywhere outside the dialog as a close action.
2 thumbs up
Update: I've been using this app for quite some time now. The app still works great and I use it regularly. I just wanted to update my review to comment on the fact that it's FREE, too. I just heard about some other app that charges $4 for the same service. Lame.. Keep it up, FollowShows.
Wow - what a simple yet awesome app.
As someone who has been spoiled by OnDemand, Netflix, etc. (watching episodes one after the other) - this whole "waiting a week for a new episode" thing has left me confused at the start of every new episode of my favorite shows. One of my favorite features of this app is the episode summaries, so before I watch a new episode I can get back on track with the storyline.
Also, this app has more than once reminded me to tune in with it's alerts when I've totally lost track of time.
Anyway, thumbs up for this app I didn't really think I needed but have discovered I really love!
