If you've got more fonts than you dare to admit, how do you find that one font whose name you just can't recall? You know, that one almost but not quite entirely unlike Garamond?
Welcome to Fonts, a new app for previewing and organising your fonts from the people who brought you the award-winning Sketch and Fontcase.
Search is hard if you don't know exactly what you're looking for. Your eyes need to do the work here, and Fonts's gorgeous previews make it a breeze to browse a large number of fonts visually.
Even if you're looking for a specific glyph we've got you covered, with a fully featured glyph panel built in.
Fonts's simple workflow helps you perfectly organise and group your fonts.
We keep our collections in sync with the rest of system so you'll have access to them from any standard Mac app.
In the old days, Macs struggled if we installed thousands of fonts.
A workaround was to activate just a few at a time, and utilities such as Fontcase evolved to help with this.
Nowadays the system can cope, and so in a rather radical move, we got rid of all that stuff, and concentrated on letting you find and group the fonts you want.
What's left is cleaner, simpler and more focussed.
What's New in Version 1.0.2
- Fixes a rare crasher on launch
- Fixes a bug where you could never enter new text into the list view previews
Neat, but not worth the price
It comes off as a great font-management system. And for a person who has over 3000 different fonts installed, I thought that this would be a great time-saver. As for displaying the font in different sizes (that’s pretty much all the App does). It is literally a different theme to the Mac version of Font Book.
Not capable of editing fonts through it, which is unfortunate. Don’t waste money on this one. Stick with Font Book.
I give it 3 stars for the design.
Lovely design, good idea — but crashes, freezes, misses fonts, etc. all the time. I really want to like this app — I use Bohemian’s “Sketch” all the time, but this is most definitely *not* ready for prime time. Like a 0.3 release that still needs beta testing or something. I had that bug where it would crash immediately upon launch. With last November’s update, at least it opens, but doesn’t display the fonts, corrupts the views, and doesn’t list any of the “Recent”. It’s got potential but for now DO NOT buy until it’s more stable.
I like Fontcase 1.5.8 a lot better than this
A review here said that we should give the company a break since fonts is only a 1.0 product. While that is a good point it is worth keeping in mind that they already had a good font management program that was still in it's first version. Fontcase 1.5 did a lot better job at viewing your fonts. Hopefully Fonts will catch up soon with that program.
