Safe, easy, and efficient. Give surplus food to local shelters and community organizations
With the Democratic National Convention ahead of us, Food Connect along with other partner nonprofit organizations in Philadelphia have gotten together to provide an easy way for restaurants, catering companies, and venue halls to donate their surplus food
Did you know?
40% of the food in the United States is never eaten
Pound after pound of perfectly edible food is thrown away every day
1 in 6 people in America face hunger. In Philadelphia, nearly 1 in 4 people live in poverty
Donors schedule a pickup
Instead of throwing away surplus food, you can schedule the food to be picked
Food Connect driver arrives
Food is loaded into the car and a receipt of the donation is signed by the donor
Food is donated to a local shelter
The Food Connect driver delivers the food to a matching recipient organization. The shelter receives the donated food and signs a receipt.
Our process is safe, simple, and convenient. Donors can use their donations as a tax write-off!

Do your part to help fight hunger in Philadelphia!
I used to live in Philadelphia and one of the things that I immediately noticed upon moving into the City of Brotherly Love was the amount of people sleeping outside. At the subway stations. On building steps. At the park. Places not meant for human habitation. Given these observations, I'm led to believe that access to daily meals is just as great of a problem for these folks. So kudos to the wonderful team at Food Connect for creating such a critical mobile app. It's simple, functional and well designed--all the makings of a great effective mobile app.
I'll also reveal that one of the founders is one of my best friends, so I can vouch first hand that she and her teammates have working tiredly on this project. Some even while balancing full time jobs. When passion is thrown into the mix, you know there's something special happening. And there certainly is. First Philadelphia, then the rest of the world 🌎🙌🏾
Innovative app to help the community!
I am so excited that someone developed this app! As someone who has worked in the food industry for a long time, it's sickening to see the amount of food that goes to waste, especially meat. The app could not be simpler. Now anyone with a surplus of food can conveniently donate it to those in need. A+!
Awesome idea, easy to use!
Probably the easiest way to donate surplus food! In a just a few clicks they had someone coming to pick up the food to bring to a local food shelter. They even left a receipt and keep a copy in their system if I need it come tax season!
