The Food Rescue US app helps connect fresh usable excess food with hunger relief organizations who serve America's food insecure population.
No matter where you are in the United States, if you're willing to donate excess food, receive and distribute food or donate your time and vehicle to transfer that food from point A to point B, this app is for you.
Food Rescue US serves food service organizations of all kinds free of charge. Use our app to request a food pickup by answering a few short questions. Our algorithm will instantly match your surplus food to a nearby shelter -- a driver will then be dispatched to pick up your food. At the same time you will be reducing your carbon footprint, maximising your tax deduction and receive analytics all while feeding those in need.
Food Rescue US serves hunger relief organizations of all kinds free of charge. Use our app to receive food by answering a few short questions. This same algorithm will instantly match your needs with upcoming food rescues, so that you can do what you do best...serving people in need.
Food Rescue US has provided a way for compassionate volunteers to make a difference for their neighbors. Use our app to connect with on demand, self-scheduling opportunities to feed hungry people right where you live. Spend 30 minutes and feed 30 people all while making a positive impact on the environment.

Ratings and Reviews
Love the Organization / HATE the updated app
The updated app is worthless. I can’t take on new routes because I haven’t closed previous routes. But the app won’t allow me to close any previous routes. The list of previous routes should be sorted by recent to past, but the app shows the oldest ones first and it takes forever to scroll through the list. (I gave up after 10 minutes!)
I also have an adopted route (since the beginning) but the app says I have no drop-offs scheduled.
Badges aren’t important to me. It’s fun to see how many runs total I’ve done, but I do not need a “reward” for it.
I’ve always thought the rating system is a little silly. Am I rating the restaurant, myself, how much food, etc. There’s no clear direction here. I would recommend clarifying this more. If you want us to rate the experience, we should be able to rate the restaurant/store (cleanliness, maybe amount of food above/below normal, etc.) Or give us a space to comment on the experience as needed. (The one restaurant I adopted seems to gone down in quality, and on days makes me wonder about the hygienic quality of the food.)
As for the scheduled routes, I’d love it if a user could filter the list to “today’s routes” only. This would be a great way to fill an immediate need for you when we have time right now to take care of it.
The app is user friendly. I volunteer on a weekly basis and it’s easy to sign up, close a run or cancel a run. But, there is no ability to review old runs to see others experiences and there is no ability to communicate with other volunteers as there was in the old app. The ability to see what others have encountered in the past helps determine whether a run would be a good fit and be prepared for issues. Also, always great to be able to interact with other runners. Need to add these features back to the new App.
What technology is meant for
Love the mission of Food Rescue US! This is what technology was meant to be used for - helping people in need. The interface is easy to understand and makes being a rescuer immediately available. Instead of watching another app for 45 minutes, you’re helping feed hungry people in the same amount of time or less. Brilliant! Keep up the great work!
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
