This app is only available on the App Store for iOS devices.

As seen on The Today Show & Time Magazine's 50 Best Apps!

Foodspotting is a visual guide to good food and where to find it. Instead of reviewing restaurants, you can recommend dishes and see what foodspotters, friends and experts recommend wherever you go.

Unlike other restaurant apps, Foodspotting answers questions like…

• Where can I find the best…
Because it’s about dishes, not just restaurants, you can find whatever you’re craving, from Dumplings and Dosas to Cronuts and Ramen Burgers.

• What’s good here?
Because it’s positive, you can see what’s good at any restaurant and recommend your favorite dishes by snapping a photo or tapping “Loved it!”

• What does it look like?
Because it's powered by people who take pictures of their food, deciding what to eat is as easy as looking in a bakery window and seeing what looks good.

Since Foodspotting launched in 2010, over 4M dishes have been spotted around the world, and we’re counting on you to represent your city!

What happened??

I haven't uploaded to FS in a while just because I haven't eaten out all that much recently but when I opened up the app today, I found a very sad state of affairs. Now, it takes forever to do anything in the app and every new screen takes a ridiculously long time to load and often just stalls. When it tried to add a photo, the screen that showed the overview of all my photos showed the most out-of-focus thumbnails I had to go back into My Photos to confirm which one I was trying to select by looking at which position it was stored. Submitting my review with the photo caused another set of stalled updates and I had to reopen the minimize and open the app several times to get to the retry screen.

Looking at the App History, I see that the last update was in 2014. I guess that means this app has been abandoned? Such a shame. In its heyday I used to rely on this app as much as I used Yelp for more info on restaurants and their corresponding menu items. At this point I'm not sure if I'll keep such a sluggish, buggy app on my phone. Thank goodness FourSquare and Yelp are still being maintained.

Missing critical features

This app is promising but I can't understand why some critical features (that apparently used to exist) are missing. For example, an easy way to see only the places you want to try, or the ones you loved. There should be lists too, so you can quickly find a restaurant you marked as wanting to try but without having to swipe through a ton of individual dishes.

I actually found this app through many reviews that touted this as the pandora for foods. Especially the ability to hide certain types of dishes and not have them show up anymore. Well looks like that feature was actually dropped in an update (because they couldn't find a good place for it in the redesign???...). Why drop the feature that so many articles are raving about.

I came here looking for a replacement for Ness. I thought this would be it but I'm sadly disappointed.

Been a spotter since the beginning

Foodspotting has always been an app for foodies to inform other foodies of delicious dishes available in restaurants around the world. The format has always been way ahead of any other food app because the information is generated predominately by food lovers for food lovers. I love the Foodie Meet Ups in different countries and being able to follow people & dishes.
The merger has in some cases negated the quality of spots (ie. bags of chips on a shelf, an overabundance of Home shots, salt & pepper shakers, pats of butter etc.) I hope that practice wanes because, rank should be based on sight, prep, taste etc. of available dishes.
