MANUAL & DAILY SESSIONS

Footsteps has two ways to capture your workout - Manual & Daily sessions.
Manual sessions are turned on by default.
You decide when to start, pause, reset and save your workout with a manual session.
Additionally, Footsteps will save your manual session at the end of each day (You can turn this off on the Settings tab).
If you don't need such a precise control and instead you prefer the pedometer to count the steps every time you run it use Daily sessions instead.
To switch to Daily Session Mode go to Settings, tap on Sessions in 'Display & Mode' section and select 'Daily Only'.
You won't see Start/Pause/Resume button and 'Save & Reset' option on the pedometer view anymore since a Daily session will be started and saved automatically for you.

HISTORY MODULE

Browse your past workout sessions.
Tap on any of the groups to see all the workouts in the group.
Share single or entire groups of sessions by Email (with CSV attachment), SMS, Twitter or Facebook.
Edit any workout if the dates or values are for some reason incorrect.

MUSIC

Footsteps has an optional built-in music player. To turn it on go to Settings tab and tap "Music Player".
You can either continue to listen to your iPod playlist or define a separate one just for Footsteps.

COMMON ISSUES

- If the speed, distance or calories burned reading is not accurate check the values and units of measurement of Walk/Run step length and Weight fields in Settings.

Not so accurate

I've counted my steps as I walk, making sure my strides line up with what I have entered in the app and more times than not, it's tells me that I have taken more steps than I actually have. Although, I believe the calories burned to be relatively accurate based on further research. Most websites say you burn x amount of calories by walking x mph for x amount of time, and it has added up to be pretty much close, if not spot on. Worst part, though, is that since it tracks you, it is a serious battery killer. Which is to be expected but I went from a full 100% to 50% in two hours of waitressing, without even being on my phone.

Walking ...a start!

It's a good app. I'm just starting to keep track of my walking. It entices me to walk every day. It gives a good variety of graphs steps miles Etc... so that you can get a good idea what you're doing.
I'm not a pro or a runner but this app entices me to get up get out and get walking.

Don't waste your time

This is not accurate. I run the same route everyday and the distance tracked varies by .5 miles every time. Also any pedometer that limits you to 3000 steps per day is completely useless. That is about 1 mile walking or about 2 miles running. Don't waste your time.
